Hi .. all .. im still new to linux .. i have red had 7( KDE interface ) .. im downloading some files from the net ,, they end with tar.gz i think .. i coudn't open them do they require specific program to open them .. i also downloaded a program called lnxZIP with a thought that this file may be used in linux to open tar.gz files but it was also .gz file .. there is install file that comes with this program .. i opened it and it gave me some instructions about using the Cd and configure command to install the LNXZIP but they didn't work correctly with me .. so can any one help me with a way to open the downloaded files .. thanks all ..
