need help with slackware login, quick

hi,

i installed slackware 9.1
just the first disc,, could not install the second disc during the installtion.

after the installtion has finished
i start the linux and login into root

and the line become similar to this "root@darkstar#" or maybe "darkstart@root#"
some thing like that

i try to type startx, but doesnot work ! and the screen shut down !!


also i try to type gui but error appear and said bad bash command

how to login into KDE
please help me fast to login into kde

right now iam using slackware live
and i format the winz and replaced all the hd with linux partitions

i couldnot install the second disc
because every time i try
this msg appear after inster it in the drive
"unmount /dev/hdd: not mounted"

what that means?

if you can't login to the graphical interface , try to run xf86cfg, or better xf86config to configure your card

maybe the second disc is corrupted, it happened with me a week ago had to redownload it
about the error msg, am not sure unless you provied more info

and a final note, have you read the Slackware book at www.slackware.com
I know it's a bit of out-of-dated, but it covers so many issues you'll encounter during your journey with Slackware

i think i have to download the second disc again ,

becuase i try the xf86config but nothing happen , and neither the gnome or kde has been installed -maybe becuase they are in the second disc-

also i will read the book again with more carefully.

oh ya about the 2nd Cd yes it got Gnome and Kde, so you could install a light-eight windowmanager
try fluxbox or blackbox or even pekwm all of them rock

i finish download the second disc, and installed correctly :)
but there is anew problem :(

i run these command:
xf86config => followed it to met my card and screen.

xwmconfig => to select KDe or GNoME

after that i entered 'startx'
but this error apeear:

Fatal server error:
no screens found.


and this also:

XIO: fatal IO error 104 (connection resert by peer) on x server ':0.0" after 0 requesrts ( o unknown processed) with 0 events rememing

root@darkstart:~#:

my screen is LG
my vga card is geforce fx5600 with 128 mb.


need fast help , i did not use the computer for a sevral days :(

it seems there is a plroblem with the X server
becuase whatever wondows manager i try to run it
these error appear:

cannot connect to X server.

connection to X server failed.

cannot open display.
