في مقابلة صحفية مع هايدو كوجيما أكد انه لن يعمل على الجزء الرابع من الاسطورة ميتل جير سوليد..وانه قد يسند عملية التصميم الى احد الاعضاء في فريقه...و اكد كوجيما ايضا انه يريد ترك ميتل جير نهائيا و العمل على اجهزة جديدة وتصميم اسطورة جديدة مثل ميتل جير ....

EGM: What are some of the inspirations for the bosses?
Kojima: A lot of the inspiration comes from the old "Common Rider" series and in anime you have the villains in each series. That's why when they die they explode.
EGM: What's the process from the idea of the boss to it getting into the game?
Kojima: What I do is I first come up with the background info for what country he's from, what ethnic group, how old he is, how big he is, what kind of attack he'd do, what kind of look he has. And then I give that to Shinkawa and he usually follows my instructions and adds to that or he totally ignores what I say and comes up with his own idea. We talk our ideas back and forth and finalize it.
EGM: Were there ever any plans to use the eyetoy or the hard drive for MGS3?
Kojima: Eyetoy is something that we wanted to do but which is unfortunately not happening this time. The disk is full and we unfortunately had to cut out a few things. We ended up filling up the DVD.
EGM: Are there gameplay things you can do as Eva or only as Snake?
Kojima: Eva does the driving and you'll be controlling Snake. This goes on for a long time and you can actually play it. This is gonna be quite seamless -- you cannot distinguish the gameplay portion and the cutscenes. They look very similar. You might think it's a cutscene and you're watching and end up being killed. The only thing that distinguishes the two modes is the black stuff underneath and on top.
EGM: Have you given any thoughts to your next project?
Kojima: MGS 4 I'll leave it up to my young boys. In the meantime I'd like to start working on something totally new on a new console and we're also thinking of a new Boktai.
EGM: New console as in PSP/DS or a next-gen console?
Kojima: As for a new Boktai it would be on the DS. As for the totally new project I haven't made up my mind yet.
EGM: Will Boktai DS use the touch screen in a new way?
Kojima: It's more of a thing that will make use of the dual screen. There are quite a few titles announced for the DS but I don't think that many of them utilize the fact that it has two screens really well so that's something we'll show you an example of. We do not live in a dual screen culture, we're used to one screen. That's why it's not easy to come up with innovative ideas.
EGM: What kind of things did you have to take out because of space and what ideas did you have that weren't used?
Kojima: There were actually tons of things that we had to cut out. There are so many. For example there's a cut scene sequence that we had to drop because it wouldn't fit in the game. There's one thing in the game called the "Healing radio station" where there are designated frequencies for the characters you talk to, but there are some other frequencies you can got to. If you just end up discovering them you get to listen to some tunes and healing music and then your stamina recovers. We had so many tracks that we recorded in the studio, but we had to drop so many of them. Even with the radio messages, we had to compound data to get everything to fit on the DVD.
Another thing we wanted to do was something that goes in the other direction of healing. Tunes that you listen to that lower your stamina. We were gonna sing songs ourselves, but that never happened. We were just going to take turns singing "snake eater" and that drops your stamina, but that didn't happen.
EGM: There's a guard looking at a picture of his son "Johnny." I assume that's "Johnny Hisaki." Where did the whole Johnny Hisaki thing come from?
Kojima: There's actually a guy on our team called Johnny Hisaki.
EGM: Doesn't he mind being made into this ridiculous guard who gets sick and craps his pants.
Kojima: No, not at all
