After the month of free online play, World of Warcraft does require a
subscription fee. This fee is needed to support the costs associated with the
high-quality levels of service, support, and ongoing content creation that we
are implementing for World of Warcraft.
Limited copies of the special Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft are also
available in some places for a suggested retail price of $79.99 (USD). The
Collector's Edition includes the World of Warcraft game on both CD-ROM and DVD,
a free one-month subscription, a World of Warcraft behind-the-scenes DVD, an
exclusive in-game pet, a cloth map of the game world, a soundtrack CD, an Art of
the World of Warcraft book, and a commemorative manual signed by the development
team.
After the initial free one-month subscription ends, players will be able to
continue playing World of Warcraft under one of three different subscription
plans:
- $14.99 per month for a month-to-month subscription
- $13.99 per month for a 3-month subscription
- $12.99 per month for a 6-month subscription
World of Warcraft subscription fees can be paid by major credit card, PayPal,
and pre-paid game cards, which will be available in stores where World of
Warcraft is sold. All fees are in U.S. dollars (USD). The 3-month and 6-month
subscriptions must be paid in full when the subscription is ordered.
