Mario Party Advance, the GBA iteration of the party game that has made multiple appearances on both the Nintendo 64 and GameCube, has finally had its wavering release date nailed down.
Japanese gamers can expect to get their hands on it first, as it hits Japanese retail stores on January 13th
, 2005. North American gamers will have to wait a short while longer, as it was pushed back from its original December 6th, 2004 release date to February 7th, 2005.
In Mario Party Advance, gamers get their first chance to take the party on the road. The goal is to fulfill requests from the denizens of Mushroom City - finishing them will unlock new mini-games. According to Nintendo, there are set to be 60 mini-games available - almost on par with its console brethren. Use the coins that you earn while playing the mini-games to unlock 'gaddgets' that can be used with your friends.
Players can take control of new playable characters, such as Professor E. Gadd or the Koopa Kids, and make use of the Professor's incredible 'gaddgets' that will both help and hinder you as the game progresses. These include trinkets, toys, detectors and tricks. For example, there is a compatibility meter to see how well you and your friends match up, a finger x-ray to see inside of objects, and the Lip Disguise-o-matic to help you play tricks on your friends.
Players will be able to make use of the Game Boy Advance Link Cable to link up with a friend for a two-player battle game, or to trade 'gaddgets', mini-games and even coins. Players can also choose to battle the Koopa Kids in a two-player game instead, in case there isn't a friend around to link up with to test your skills.
Again, Mario Party Advance will be available on January 13th, 2005 in Japan for an MSRP of 4800 yen, and on February 7th, 2005 in North America, with no MSRP announced.
