Graphics chipset maker ATI announced that it has introduced the Radeon Xpress 200M for AMD-based notebooks. The company claims this is the first integrated PCI Express DirectX 9 chipset for AMD-powered notebooks.
The chipset can also support other form factors and comes with Powerplay 5.0 power management. It supports all currently available Mobile AMD Athlon 64 and Mobile AMD Sempron processors. The company says the power management functionality makes it well suited for thin and light notebooks powered by forthcoming AMD Turion 64 chips.
The chipset will be available from PC makers like HP, Sharp, Acer, NEC and MSI.
ATI said the new chipset delivered onboard Radeon X300 class visual performance and features. Through capabilities such as Dynamic Lane Count Switching (DLCS), power is adjusted to reduce GPU power consumption by up to 30 per cent.
