The story takes place in year AD2017, seven years after the story of .Hack, the virtual reality world "The World" has continued to evolved into an world of chaos, not even the system administrators are able to control. The protagonist is a boy named Haseo, who is much darker than the characters from .Hack, and has a violent side during battles.
