dataDyne Central: Defection

Start with:

1. Disable the internal security hub

You're high atop the dataDyne building as the level begins. Your goal? To get all the way down the building and gain access to a top secret laboratory. The jump copter drops you on a helipad above the building's roof. The first order of business is to take out the patrolling guard below. Peer over the corner of the platform with the bright light. Line up a head shot on the guard, then take down the security
camera on the corner near the door. There are several more of these coming up. Getting seen will trigger an alarm and bring guards out of the woodwork.

Drop below and enter the door, dropping the light guard resistance you encounter. As you walk down a sloping catwalk, be aware of a security camera in a nook to the right and a one straight ahead on a far wall. Take them down, then move down the walkway. The security hub, nothing more than a flat computer terminal, is in a corner ahead. Use the ECM Mine (by selecting the item and pressing trigger while aiming at the hub) to finish the first objective.

2. Obtain key code necklace

Find the grated door and go through. As you move down the stairs, you'll encounter a couple of guards. Dispatch them and move down the stairs. At the landing, head through the door and into an office lobby. Eliminate the guards here, then head into the room between the two glass elevators. In Perfect, you'll have to unlock the doors with a switch on the desk first.

Cassandra de Vries is just standing around looking evil. Punch her (or pistol whip her) in the face. She'll drop her necklace. Objective complete.

Perfect Objective: Download Project Files

To complete the Perfect Objective, exit Cassandra's office and take a left. Head through the brown door to the stairwell, taking the stairs down two floors. Head down the hall past the elevators and into the open office around the corner. Step through the room, heading right. At the end of the long hallway around the next corner is a camera. Take it down before proceeding.

Move down the corridor. Past the second door, you'll hear a surreptitious conversation. "Yes, yes, personality is expendable in this case." Wait until the chat is over. A dataDyne flunky will exit. Jo convinces him to download the project files. Follow him as he makes his way to the elevator and up.

Hidden Item: Once in awhile, on his way upstairs, the employee will pause to unlock a door on the floor you're on. Keep following him up the elevator (until he downloads the files), then return to the office and claim the Laptop Gun.

The employee will enter an office with a couple of computers and access the panel. After he's logged in, equip the Data Uplink and use it to download the project files.

Some Goodies:

Up the stairs, you can find a Shield in the far left office one floor below Cassandra's.
There is a single helmeted guard in a perimeter office two floors below Cassandra's office. Kill him and he'll drop a second Falcon, giving you a Dual Falcon 2.

3. Disable external comms hub

Take one of the glass elevators down to the ground floor. You may have to ride it for several floors. The elevator does not go straight down. Just stay on. You'll know when it is really going down, because you'll zip by at least twenty floors. When you arrive at the ground level, you'll find guards below on both side of the level the elevator stops at. Take down the guards on the stairs first, then turn around and wax the thugs on the other side. When they drop, hop down and grab the guns behind the front desk.

Then, move around the perimeter until you see a dataDyne logo on the wall. Enter the door to the right, prepared for a firefight. Smoke the congregation of baddies, then proceed to the comms hub on the wall. Use the ECM Mine here (aim, trigger) to complete this objective.

4. Gain entrance to laboratory

Now head to the door left of the dataDyne logo. Head through the next patterned door, dropping dataDyne meatheads as you go. After the next corner, a door will slide back, revealing an elevator. Get inside to gain access to the secret lab.

Mission 1.2
dataDyne Research: Investigation

1. Holograph radioactive isotope

Hidden Item:
To get the Double CMP150, you have to make it all the way downstairs without being noticed by dataDyne personnel. The best way to do this is to duck back into the elevator as the level begins. Wait here (a long time) until you hear the guard's footsteps on the metal plate in front of this door. Then exit and cruise to the left, pausing before the silver door. You'll notice a maintenance bot make his way down the hall you just came from. Before the silver door, he'll take a sharp left, opening a secret sliding door. Go through and shoot out the glass at the end of this corridor, dropping into the room below. Wait approximately three minutes for the guards to clear, then run around the corner. In a small niche to the right, you'll find a weapons locker computer. Access it to gain the Double CMP150.

There is a single guard patrolling the hallway to the left. Follow it, eliminating him and heading to the silver door. Through this door, several guards are hanging out behind a bulletproof partition. Take them down as they exit the glass to the left. Then go to the door across the room.

The next room is a hub to several areas you'll need to access later. First, proceed through the "Caution" doors. Head through another set of doors marked "Caution." Here are a couple of dataDyne personnel lurking here. Drop them, then activate the CamSpy. Pilot it through the next set of doors until you reach a large, green isotope. Take a picture of this structure by pressing the Z trigger. Objective complete. Pilot the CamSpy back to Joanna and pick it up by walking over it.

Hidden Item:
On the outer ring of the isotope room is a Proximity Mine. Keep to the left when you enter the lab, following the path around. The Mine is directly behind the isotope in this area.

2. Start security maintenance cycle

Head back to the hub room. Go through the entrance to the left of the large Sector Two door. There are several dataDyne guards stationed in this winding corridor, each behind a crate. Peek around the corner to line up a shot. Often, you can kill them without the guards ever detecting you. Some of the baddies can be taken down before you round the corner to the next hall. Line up an angled shot as you cling to the far wall. When the area is clear, head down the sloping corridor until you reach a short glass wall. Shoot it out and drop into the area below.

There are a couple of guards lurking here around the bend. Using the corner as cover, inch out and pop them with the Falcon. See the large, flat computer terminals? Access each of these screens. One will stop the maintenance bots' progress through the hall, the next will reprogram them. Going back to the first will reactivate the mice, beginning the security maintenance cycle. Objective complete.

3. Shut down experiments

Head up the ramping hallway past the second computer to a silver door. Return through the crate hall you recently cleared back to the hub room. Now, head into Sector Two. Through another set of double doors, several guards will be awaiting you. Use the angled column on the right as cover. Let them come to you and pick them off as they charge.

When the enemy has been liquidated, head into the lab at the end of the long hallway to your right. Here you will find a scared scientist. Bully him with your weapon until he shuts down the first batch of experiments. Make sure you grab the ammo placed in small alcoves around the lab.

Return to the main hallway, and across to a silver door, snagging the ammo around the room. Look into the orange grate. There are two people down there: a guard and a scientist. Smoke the guard, then ride the large lift in the room down. Grab the K7 Avenger and head back up.

Perfect Objective: Obtain experimental technologies
The K7 Avenger is the first piece of technology needed for the Perfect Objective.

Return to the main hall, heading right from the exit. Kill the guards here, then go in. Shatter the glass on the tube directly ahead to collect Night Vision. This is the second piece of technology needed for the Perfect Objective.

Leave this lab and cut across the hall, heading diagonally to the left. Eliminate the two guards in front of the silver door. Use the angled column for shelter as you peek and pop them. Then enter the lab, killing the two guards inside, but leaving the scientist intact. After you've murdered the guards, instruct him to shut down the second round of experiments.

Now go to the doors in the back of this room. The last scientist is a bit of a prig. He will attempt to get all heroic and set off an alarm. Pistol whip his starched-lab-coat-wearing-butt. You can handle this last piece yourself. One of the two computers near the angled column (on the left when facing from the entrance) will shut down the final experiment.

4. Locate Dr. Caroll

Head out of the lab and cross the hall, entering the opposite silver door. Hug the left wall for cover and drop the four guards. That lovely K7 Avenger delivers a nice, room-clearing parp. Use it well. Then go through the Sector Three doors. Remember that maintenance bot you reprogrammed back in the day? He'll get you through the lasers. Follow behind him as the laser curtains fall.

The next room contains a single guard. Kill him, then hug the right wall of this small foyer. As the bot moves through the next door, you'll see the troops in the room beyond mobilize. Hang out in the corner and smoke those who cross your path. Then creep into the room and clean up the leftovers. On the table in the center of the room, grab the CMP150. In the glass terrarium in the left corner is a Shield. Snag it, then go through the silver door at the back of the room.

Through another set of doors is a computer uplink. There are two dataDyne thugs hanging out here. Peek into the room to trigger them, then retreat into the small chamber and eliminate them. Use your Data Uplink on the terminal here to open the next doors. Once the door has been sprung, turn to face the attackers approaching from the rear.

Then head through the Sector Three doors, following the path until you reach the Sector Four door. This next lab has a bunch of hiding guards. One is behind the large glass tube to the left. When you shoot him, the others will run out- one from the right and one from the left. Drop them as they approach.

Perfect Objective: Obtain experimental technologies

The last leg of the Perfect Objective is off of this room. Go through the restricted door to the left, killing guards stationed along the passage. In the last room of the hall is the Shield Tech Item. Pick it up to complete the objective.

Now head through the other Restricted door in the lab. There are two machine gun turrets on the supports above. Open the doors, then fall back to a safe distance. Line up a shot and spray the turrets with a stream from the K7 or Dragon. When you reach the end of the hall, you will locate Dr. Carroll and complete the mission.

Mission 1.3
dataDyne Central : Extraction

Mission Strategy

1. Access foyer elevator

The object of this level is to protect Dr. Caroll, the floating sapient that dogs you around the level. Be careful to keep him out of danger. The intelligent doctor has a propensity to float in front of firing weapons and such. You're back in the same area as in Mission 1.1. Now, the lights are off and several fave spots have been sectioned off with barricades. The lights will return 1:30 after the level begins, and there are serious benefits to accomplishing things downstairs without being seen, not the least of which are a couple of hidden items. Plus, staying in the dark allows you to use the nifty Night Vision.

Hidden Item:
Score the DY357 Magnum by killing the first five guards in this level before being detected. The fifth guard gives up the goods.

Right off the bat, activate Night Vision. This will illuminate things in a green glow. Signs of warmth will be reflecting in bright green. The first door is directly ahead. As you approach, it will slide open. Do not step into the room. Line up a head shot on the guard crouching behind a crate.

Then walk to the next room and face the door. Get in the right corner and trigger the door from the side. Then, fall back, sticking to the right side of the wall. When you hit an impediment, edge around it, then slide along the back wall until you have a clear shot of this guard. Headshot, death.

Step into the doorway and face the left wall. Now back as far as you can, then scoot right until you see a guard. Pop a headshot, then move further to the right and smoke the guard to the left.

Walk to the doorway and look up and to the left. Edge forward until you see a distant guard peering over the top of a barricade. You know the drill. Now turn right and edge left until you see another glowing fool. Kill him with extreme prejudice. As long as you haven't yet been detected, he'll cough up the DY357 Magnum.

That felt good. Wanna try for two?

Hidden Item:
To get the Grenade and Dragon, continue in this lights-out-let's-have-a-gun-party vein. You'll have to reach the elevator without being detected to gain these items. Past the couch, hug the wall and face the middle of the room. Edge right until you see a guard standing near the front desk. Make sure the other guard isn't in view. If he is, you'll be seen. Lick a head shot on the first, then edge out more to take down the second.

Repeat the process on the guard around the next corner, hugging the back wall and creeping until you see a sliver. Head shot, murder, murder. Head down the hall toward the stairs. Go behind the plant in the corner and turn toward the stairs. Now creep forward until the last guard appears. You'll see just a smidgen of his gob above the barricade. Line up a precarious head shot to drop the punk. Now gallop up the stairs and enter the elevator. You've completed the objective, but you haven't gotten the item yet. Do you still want to? Good.

When the elevator comes to a halt, exit and promptly smoke the first helmeted guard you see. He'll cough up a Key Card that will get you into Cassandra's office. When you are on Cassandra's office level later, access it with the Key Card. Hark! There is a Grenade on the desk. Use it to blow a hole in the wall in the right corner of the room (not the wall that intersects with the window, the next niche over). When the hole has been punched in the wall, walk in and grab the Dragon. It's near the base of a ladder.

Perfect Objective: Reactivate office elevator

As you exit the lift, head right, then right again. Here, you'll run into a lone guard. He is pathetic. He does not deserve to live. Enter the office he's guarding. The hovercopter is on the prowl here, so watch out. Hug the left wall as you scoot through these offices. Cassandra's slag patrol is roaming the halls. Her bodyguards are all women, all dressed in leather and all endangered species. Smoke them with CMP150. Each of them will drop a Shotgun. New toy. The last room in this hall contains a computer. Activate it to reactivate the office elevator.

2. Destroy dataDyne hovercopter

Return to the elevators and take the one you haven't yet. It will lift you one floor. Note the barricades to the left. We'll be taking the long way around. Walk around the corner to the right. Strafe as you take down the two guards behind the barricade. Take a left through the sliding doors. The wall to the left slides back when you get near it. Pick your way through the next offices en route to the other elevator.

You'll tangle with another Cassandra-guard attack on the way to the other side of the barricade. Dodge the hovercopter as it tracks you through these offices. As long as you stay moving, you should be fine. Go into the stairwell and follow the stairs up one floor. When you exit, you'll see three dotards arguing about how to use a Rocket Launcher. Take down the one in the black suit. You can wax the businessmen, too, if you're feeling carnivorous. Grab the Rocket Launcher and wait for that hovercopter--dataDyne's version of Blue Thunder.

You've probably already seen it on your trips around the office, but now's the time to drop it. Position yourself behind the X beam on the large bank of windows. Equip that Rocket Launcher and wait. The copter will swing around the building, firing on you the whole time. As long as you're ducking behind the X, you should be safe. When the copter flashes in the space in the top of the X, line up a shot and let it rip. One shot will take it down. If you miss, a steady stream of CMP150 fire should hose it down.

When the hovercopter explodes, the objective will be complete.

3. Defeat Cassandra’s bodyguards

By now, all of Cassandra's bodyguards on the floors below should be dead. If you're not sure, take a circuit through the previous floors and destroy the biddies. Then head to the floor where you got the Rocket Launcher (or stay there), heading through the louvred door next to the elevator. Bound up the stairs, giddy for the next fight.

When you enter the following room, Cassandra will bark a couple of threats. This signals the beginning of a fight. Take a shot at the woman to the right, then head to the right corner. Hover near the light switch, killing bodyguards like your life depended on it. Oh, it does. The best strategy is to shoot those on your level, strafing to avoid their fire.

Tip: Use the CMP150 or hidden Dragon or Magnum to end this fight quickly. The Shotgun is a poor weapon to use here, because it has no reach.

When Cassandra is done talking, the lights will go out. Turn them back on by hitting B at the switch, then focus your fire above. When the last guard drops, you will have completed this objective.

Tip: If you do not get to the switch, equip your Night Vision for this brawl. Instead of hanging out in the right alcove, stand behind the concrete slab to the left to provide some cover for yourself.

4. Rendezvous at heli-pad

This is embarrassingly easy. Walk up the catwalk to the louvered door and on to the roof. Head to the central heli-pad. When you reach the top, you will have completed the level.

Mission 2
Carrington Villa: Hostage One

Start with:

Objectives:

Perfect Difference:
On the Perfect difficulty setting, Joanna will start on the pier, rather than in the cliffs above.

Perfect Objective: Capture dataDyne guard
Punching or disarming any guard (before you reach the cellar) will fulfill this objective.

1. Save the negotiator

On the pier below, two surly guards are holding your negotiator hostage, and are about to execute her. Spin, quickly line up a shot with the Sniper Rifle and pop. Focus on the left guard first, then the right. After you kill them both, the negotiator will run to safety. It takes a few seconds to see the "Objective Complete" acknowledgement, so don't fret.

2. Eliminate rooftop snipers

Around the telescope behind you are a couple of crates. Shoot them to score some Grenade ammo. Then, move to the tunnel, wasting the guard patrolling here. Track ahead until you reach an overhang looking down into a rock pit. Hug the right canyon wall and peer down into the hollow. A guard stands near the rock wall with his back to you. Use the Sniper Rifle to lay him low. Then edge left until the second thug comes into view. Wax him, then drop into the canyon. Shoot the crates here to collect some Grenade Rounds and ammo.

Smoke the single guard as you plow forward. At the end of the path is an intersection. To the left is a Sniper atop a wall. You may have to edge left to see him. Shoot him quickly.

Hidden Item:
If you can reach this sniper in under :38 seconds, you will get a Double CMP150. To do this, snipe the two guards at the beginning in under :10, then book down to the canyon, drop in and disarm a guard. From the pause menu, select a CMP150, run past the rest of the guards and take down the sniper. If you get him in time, he'll drop the second CMP150.

Now take the right branch of the path. As you reach the mouth of the tunnel, you'll see a sniper straight ahead on the roof. Take him out with the Sniper Rifle. There are a total of four snipers on the rooftops to the left, and another to the right. Two are on a low roof, one is hiding behind a palm tree and a fourth is far to the left. Using the left wall as cover, peek out, line up a shot, then strafe back to safety. Quickly scoot out and take your shot, then move back to avoid the fire you'll draw. When the four snipers have been dealt with, turn to face the ocean. There is another sniper on patrol on a low-lying building near the waves. Head shot. Objective complete.

3. Activate wind generator

Hidden Item:
To gain the Devastator, return to the place where you took down the first sniper. Instead of heading down the steps into the villa, keep moving up and around to a heli-pad. Shooting the crates here will yield a Devastator.

Now head down the stairs into the villa courtyard. To the left is a tunnel leading to a higher level of villa. As you cut across the court, a pair of guards will appear from the stable area. Smoke them with the CMP150 and head to the main doors. Through these, you'll encounter another pair of guards behind a couch to the left. Peek and pop, darting back outside to dodge fire. Hug the right (from the entrance) wall and peek into the next room. Two guards will charge you. Fall back and prepare. As they emerge from the corner, drop them with short bursts from the CMP150.

Hidden Item (Perfect Only):
Get a Sniper Rifle from the bathroom in the master bedroom.

Then, head down the stairs. Four more thugs wait for you in the next hall. Peek into their room and duck into the alcove on the left. Let them come to you, then ravage them with the CMP. When they lie cold, head to the second arched doorway to the right. Pass by the stairs and pause at the next doorway. Take down the pair of guards here and move to the left corner of the kitchen. Next to the gigantic coffee maker is a set of stairs. Ponce down them.

There is a duo of guards here as well. When you've downed them, head to the left double wooden doors just past the partition. Take the steps here down to the basement, killing the two guards you encounter on the way.

You’ll encounter some resistance at the bottom of the stairs. Get rid of the threat, then head into the next room. Just past the room divider is a door to the left. That is a passage leading toward steps to the basement. Ignore the room to the right of the stairs. There are several guards here, and no real goodies for bothering. Move to the other doors here instead.

You'll find yourself in a series of underground tunnels. Go straight ahead, killing guards who cross your path, following the channel in the floor to the first wind generator room. There is a trio of guards stationed on the catwalks here. When they're toast, trip the switches on each computer monitor to activate the cooling and power switches.

Return to the main tunnel and head down the other leg. At the intersection, you will encounter a guard to the right and several that charge from the room to the left. Retreat and smoke them one by one. Then follow the channel in the floor to another wind generator room. Activate the central control panel to reactivate the generator. Objective complete.

Perfect Objective: Locate and eliminate dataDyne hackers

Activate your R-Tracker and return upstairs. There are hackers crawling all over the villa. Follow their whereabouts with the R-Tracker. Locate them with this device, then enter and drop them. Be careful not to shoot the computers they are working on. If you do, you'll have to start the mission over. Likewise, if you take too long to do this objective, the hackers will get the info they need and you'll be snookered.

4. Rescue Carrington

Exit the room and track ahead until you reach a set of wooden doors. At the bottom of the stairs is a single guard. Kill him. The door at the end of the hallway is locked-it is an alternate exit. Go through the door to the left of the stairs to find yourself in the wine cellar. There are several goons hiding behind the bottles here. Use the ends of the cabinets as cover as you discover their positions. Then peek and pop.

Proceed through the wine cellar (three corridors), killing the guards with the CMP150. The last guard drops a Key Card. Grab it and use it one the nearby door to find Carrington and complete this mission.




Mission 3.1
Chicago: Stealth

Start with:

1. Retrieve drop point equipment

Mission Three, for all of its talk about stealth is quite un-stealthy. You begin in a greasy alley in the back pocket of Chicago. Take down the uniformed guard ahead, but do not shoot the man in the trench coat. He is a civilian. Go through the doorway to the right. Either right here or around the corner, you will encounter a disguised dataDyne agent (he is also wearing a trenchcoat, but his is brown). Take him down immediately. If you miss this guy or merely wound him, prepare for a big battle.

DataDyne personnel will ooze from the walls. In addition, a floating sentry will join the party and pepper you with assault rounds. The best thing to do is to retreat into the brick passage you just came from and shoot as you retreat.

Perfect Objective: Attach tracer to limousine

Eliminate enemies near the taxi, then crouch next to the red grate open it by pressing B. Inch forward until you reach the mouth of the tunnel. You'll have to move quickly. The limo doesn't wait all day. Take out the guard facing away from you, then hop down into the drain. Clear the ditch, strafing through the water as you shoot. On the slope of the ditch is a small tunnel. Crouch down and crawl through until you reach a red grate above. Stand up and face the tunnel entrance. Open the grate by pressing B. The limousine is parked above. Equip the Tracer Bug and attach it to the underside of the limo (by pressing the trigger). Objective fulfilled.

Exit the tunnel and head right, following the ditch to a higher channel to the right. Follow this under a concrete overhang. The interceptor patrols the street ahead. It announces its presence by a high-pitched whirring. At the end of this path is a niche containing the drop equipment: a Remote Mine and Reprogrammer. Objective two is complete.

The next two objectives work better done out of order.

3. Create vehicular diversion

Return back to the taxi through a space in the wooden fence, taking down the guards you encounter. Walk next to the taxi and use the Reprogrammer on it to change its course. If the robot interceptor appears, be careful that it does not fire on the cab. If the taxi is destroyed, you will fail this objective. Ultimately, the cab will hover around until it comes to a rest in front of the G5 Building. Here, it will explode, creating a diversion and bringing several guards from their posts near the entrance to the building. Luckily, the explosion will also destroy that pesky robot interceptor.

There is an alternate way to complete Objective 3, but it involves finding a hidden object.

Hidden Item:
BombSpy: Head across from the taxi into the narrow alley again. Search the area until you locate a dumpster near a set of explosive barrels. Push the dumpster near a barrel and pop. The dumpster will explode, yielding a BombSpy. Activate the BomSpy and find the area marked G5 Building. Detonate the bomb to create an alternate diversion.

2. Prepare escape route

Hidden Item:
Double Falcon 2 (scope): This item is more trouble than it's worth, but you will get to see an area not normally available to Joanna. Walk down the main drag of the city. When you see the entrance to the Pond Punk club, head in. You'll encounter a bunch of guards on these stairs. Disarm them and work your way down. One of the disarmed guards will open the door at the bottom of the stairs. Step through and into the bar. Kill the guards here, grabbing the first Falcon from the floor. The Double Falcon 2 is to the left.

Exit the Pond Punk and head into the narrow alley. Negotiate the turns until you locate a fire escape up and to the left. Stay at the mouth of the alley and take down the guards patrolling above. Be careful not to hit the civilians here. The dD guards will weave in between these pedestrians, so watch that trigger finger. When the area is clear, head up the fire escape. You can attach the Remote Mine on either the top tier of the escape, or the one below it. The top escape is a better bet, as it leads to a hidden item in the next mission. When the mine is set, the objective will be clear.

4. Gain entry into G5 building

Head back to where you created the diversion. If there are still guards here, clean them out. Then head across the small courtyard of the building to an elevator at the back

Mission 3.2
G5 Building: Reconnaissance

1. Deactivate laser grid system

Take the elevator up into the car park of the G5 Building. When you exit, you'll have to deal with a new foe--cloaked dataDyne guards. They weave through the garage, taking shots at you. When they do, they’ll appear momentarily. You can hit them while they're cloaked, so guess which direction they went and pop. Once you pick up a CMP150, use the follow lock-on feature to track them even whilst cloaked.

Punching the second guard you take on will yield a Crossbow.

The last cloaked guard will drop a Key Card. Use it on the previously locked door, then head down the next hallway (eliminating the guard here) and into a second garage. Repeat the process here, using the glass panels in the corner near the door as cover.

Again, the last guard will cough up a Key Card. Use this on the doors near the glass. You're in.. Creep to the next door. Take down the guard patrolling in the next hall with a single head shot. Don't miss, tho8ugh, or he'll run ahead and warn everyone of your presence, and you'll be sunk for Objective 2.

At the next door, head through and quickly kill the guards to your left. Keep an eye on the right of the room. There is an alarm on this wall that you don't want tripped, as it will fail Obj. 2. When you have dispatched the first couple of guards, take up a position near this alarm and finish the job.

Perfect objective: Disable damping field generator

Go into the door near the alarm and you will encounter another patch of guards. Smoke them without firing on the computer terminals. Access the screens to complete this objective.

Return to the main corridor. There are a bunch of laser grid units scattered here. If you do not disable them, you won't be able to access the next area, so this step is imperative. Find the damping generators and simply walk up and turn them off. Objective complete.

2. Holograph meeting conspirators

Move to the stairs beyond the alarm and head up to a catwalk. Shoot the guards below, then follow the walk until you reach a small hole in the wall. Equip the CamSpy and send it through to witness Trent Easton's designs on the globe. This will complete the objective. Make sure you grab the CamSpy before you go.

3. Retrieve Dr. Caroll backup from safe

Drop below and head to a set of blue doors into the stairwell. There are quite a few guards in the next hall. Cling to the walls, they fall back and blast the. Head down the hall, clearing side passages as you go.

Head through the next door, claiming a Shield from the landing. Taking these stairs up lead to the top fire escae exit. Don't head up just yet. Leave the stairwell and return to the hall, finding a set of silver doors. Inside, in a safe is the Dr. Caroll backup.

Enter and use the Door Decoder on the small terminal here. It will take a while to work, and in the mean time, every single dD guard in the building will attempt to stop you. The best way to survive this attack is to get behind one of the angled pillars near the safe. Duck and cover as the guards (some armed with Magnums) hunt you. You'll want to scoot into the room during the fight to pick up dropped weapons--especially the Magnum. One-hit kills are sure nice, aren't they?

When you have cleared the room and the safe is opened, dash in and grab the backup to complete the Objective.

4. Exit building

Head upstairs if you placed the explosive on the top stairs, otherwise, search the floor you're on for a hole in the wall. When you exit the building, you will have completed the mission.

Hidden Item:
If you placed the Remote Mine on the top level last mission, there will be an N-Bomb waiting for you upstairs.

Mission 4.1
Area 51: Infiltration

1. Shut Down Air Intercept Radar

The beginning of this level is crawling with danger. Turn immediately and kill the three guards behind you. If you are too slow, one of the guards will run to an auto-cannon and activate it. If this happens, strafe to the right, using the canyon wall for cover as you sweep up the crumbs. Don't bother destroying the auto-gun. Just turn around and head down the canyon path.

Stick to the right wall, edging forward until you see the tip of the auto-gun. Eliminate it from this position of safety. Then head forward. As the canyon dumps into a snowy field, look out for another auto-gun to your left. Take it down as you did the last, then focus on the tower to the right.

Cling to the right rock face and quickly take down the two snipers atop this tower, dodging to avoid their fire is they see you. When they've both fallen, head forward toward the rock tunnel to the right. As you pass, note the fortress to the left. We'll be heading in the back way.

Just past the sniper tower is a tear in the chain link fence. Inside of the fence is a mine field. Toss a grenade so that it comes to rest a little ways in front of the concrete apron in the snow. If the grenade skids too far on the slick snow, toss another. After the explosion, move forward to the heli-pad in the center. There is a Rocket Launcher here. Grab it, then toss another grenade on the back half of the field. After this explosion, search the left rock face for a small opening. Crouch down and enter.

The other side of this path dumps into the dangerous base area. In Agent or Special, you'll find a Shield here.

Creep forward until you are at a bend in this passage. From here, you should be able to see a couple of patrolling guards. Nip at their toes until they fall, then head out and into the path. Head left until the path turns. Very near you and overhead, you'll discover a sentry cannon. Take it out from behind, then get the one further ahead.

Return past the hole in the rock and round the other corner. Creep along the right wall, peering around the corner to the left. Take down the last turret here, then look straight ahead. A technician is working on an interceptor in the distance. Target the interceptor and pop, and the explosion will kill him. If you don't destroy the interceptor, it will eventually take flight and cause problems down the road.

When these things have been cleared, go grab the Key Card the technician drops, then head back around the fort until you reach a hatch in the ground. This takes you to an underground bunker. Go into the door downstairs, then look around the room. When you see a small white box on the wall, blow it away. Otherwise, this box will emit a laser barring your exit from the room. Head into the room. When you come upon a computer terminal, place the Explosives there. Quickly exit the room and proceed back above ground. The explosives will go off below, finishing the first objective.

2. Plant Comms Device on Antenna

Head back through the minefield and down the sloping tunnel. At the mouth, you'll run into several snow troopers. Smoke them as they approach, but do not head out of the tunnel just yet. Instead, cling to the left wall and edge forward and a bit right to see another auto-gun to the left. Stay under cover and explode the gun, then head into the snowy field. To the left, you'll see the comm dish you're looking for.

Head past the dish and set up camp near the robot cycles in the cliff face. Target the far right corner, where you'll see another auto-gun. Take it down and head to the dish. Make the antenna come to you by pressing the green button at the antenna's base. Then equip the Comms Rider, aim it at the dish and press the trigger. This will complete the objective.

Hidden Item:
Double MagSec 4: Attaching the device will bring several guards from the door near the auto-gun. One of these, a man dressed in red and white will drop a second Mag Sec 4 when killed. To polish off the others, hang behind the antenna and strafe, darting back if fire gets too heavy.

Perfect objective: Disable all robot interceptors

If you've already destroyed the first interceptor near the technician (objective 1), you simply need to explode all of the vehicles stashed in the rock face to the right. This will complete the Perfect Objective.

3. Gain Access to Hangar Lift

If you'd like to, get on the final vehicle. It's Joanna's hoverbike. Ride or hoof it back to the fortress. You should already have the Key Card from the technician you slew earlier. Use the Key Card to access the small terminal on the small terminal on either side of the large lift doors. The right lift is stocked with dataDyne guards. The left is chock-full of explosive barrels.

Trigger the right elevator (avoiding the dangerous barrels of the left). When the doors open, strafe right and left until all of the guards are killed. Then, hop aboard and ride the lift down. At the bottom, there will be more guards just waiting to die. Do them this service, then step out of the elevator. When you enter the hangar, objective 3 will be complete.

4. Make Contact with CI Spy

Find the ramp that leads up to the high catwalk. Mount it and track around to an elevator, taking down any personnel that impede your progress. Ride the elevator to level 2A and exit, killing the guards that appear as the doors open.

Leave the lift and walk around this high passage, taking down the guards below. As you round the corner of the walkway, you'll see four guards running for the cover of some crates. Shoot them as they run. It is much easier than getting them once they've reached the cover of the crates.

When you reach the down-sloping ramp on the other side, take it down and head through the door nearby. Here you'll meet up with Jonathon, completing the mission.

Mission 4.2
Area 51: Rescue

1. Locate conspiracy evidence

You'll begin next to a floating crate. You don't need it yet. Instead, track forward and around the corner, sneaking up the ramp that leads to a large warehouse. Pick off the guards in the distance. Fall back and use the ramp as cover if you draw their fire. Then head up and finish them off.

Head forward until you reach the second channel in the crates to the right. Keep creeping right, rounding corners until you reach a guard facing away from you. Kill him at close range, then turn around and look for an explosive crate sticking out of the stack to the left.

Hidden Item:
Double Falcon 2 (silenced): Explode the protruding crate to procure this weapon.

Head forward, sticking to the right side of the stacks. Keep to the right edge of the wall, moving cautiously. When you see a cat walk ahead and above, line up a shot on one of the guards here. Then take out the next one. If you miss, they will run to a lift and come down to your level.

Continue around the stacks of crates, eliminating dD guards. They hide in every nook and cranny, so don't leave a single inch of the ground floor unexplored. When all the guards are dead, head upstairs on the lift.

Hidden Item:
Phoenix: This item is pretty difficult to get. From the elevator, head right. Shoot the door behind the guard stationed in front of it. About 20% of the time, doing this causes him to open the door and head through. Follow behind him, moving up the ramp in the subsequent room to an elevator. Take the lift up, then go down the hall through a couple groups of sliding doors. After the last one, you'll find yourself in a cavernous room overlooking the hangar. Grab the Phoenix from the bench.

Head past the elevator across the catwalk to a set of sliding doors. Open them and head forward, keeping an eye overhead. In this huge, rocky chamber are a series of catwalks overhead. Haul out the Dragon and drop the guards as they run around to the lift.

Stay where you are. The guards, once they see you, will seek you out. Fall back a ways into the prior passage and wait. Often, sensing you nearby, the guards will attempt to throw a grenade, accidentally killing themselves.

Once they've all been killed, return downstairs and grab that floating crate near the beginning of the level. Bring it into the cavern and ride the next lift up. Follow the catwalk around the wall until you reach a small X chiseled into a silver strip of wall. Leave the crate here, then back up and shoot it. This will open a passage into the next area.

Several guards will likely approach through the opening you've created. Fall back and take them down as they step through, then head into the lab hall.

Perfect objective: Destroy computer records

Go to the right, taking down the guards past each set of sliding doors. Follow the path as it turns right. Now go to the silver door halfway down the hall to the left. Enter and punch out the guard here. Equip the Data Uplink on the computer terminal to download a virus, causing a gun across the hall to shut down. Head to the silver door opposite and enter.

Punch out these labbies too, and again use the Uplink to download a virus. This one makes the doors in this corridor malfunction. Head to the top of the corridor and enter the door at the top to the right. Shoot the two guards here, then shoot the lone computer terminal here. This will complete the objective.

Exit this room and head into the door to the right. Here you'll discover a Shield. Leave this room and head to the right, down the long med hallway. At the end of this corridor are a pair of facing doors. Step to the window of each and eliminate the technicians that may be lurking here. Proceed through each containment area.

Both contain dD guards, as well as tranquilizer-strapped lab techs. Use the Dragon to quickly clear each room. When there's a break in the action, move around the room pushing the green buttons. This will raise the containment units. When this is done, you'll likely have company again. Guards come in every couple of seconds. Just keep returning to the entrance to shoot the intruders.

When all of the containment units have been raised, strap on the X-Ray vision. You are looking for evidence in the form of alien bodies. Move around the room, eyes trained on the central array. When you see the pale outline of an alien form, look at it for a few moments. When you have successfully determined it is an alien body, the objective will be complete.

2. Obtain and use lab technician disguise

Return to the other leg of hallway, following it down until you see a set of smaller silver doors across from each other. These doors are separate entrances into a single locker room. You may encounter a guard on each side of the locker room. Kill him, then find the shower room. Here (on Special Agent), you'll discover a lab tech. Shoot him and grab the clothes he drops. If playing Perfect, scour the lockers for the disguise.

Put it on immediately. You'll have 2:15 to find the first lab and enter. When you don the clothes, the objective will be complete.

3. Gain access to autopsy lab

Go back to the hallway where you entered. On the right wall past the hole you made to get in is a silver door. With the disguise on (and unarmed), head to the back of the lab. Here, a guard at the door will let you pass.

Go to the right corner of the room and head through the door. When you enter, you'll be found out. Kill anyone who gives you trouble, then open the door to the glassed-in room. Grab the Med Lab Key Card. Objective 3 complete.

4. Rescue the crash survivor

Leave this room and head right to another lab door. Equip your Dragon and go in. There are several guards lurking behind partitions here. Peek to trigger them, then fall back and shoot them as they move into the center of the room.

Go through the next door and eliminate all of the guards here. One of them will drop yet another Key Card. Snag it and head to the door next to the glassed experiment room. If you take too long to get there, the labbies will destroy the alien on the gurney. The moment you step through the door to the autopsy chamber, you will complete the mission.

Mission 4.3
Area 51: Escape

1. Rendezvous with C.I. spy

Hidden Item:
Double Falcon 2 (Scope). At the beginning, turn around and grab the Double Falcon 2 in the gassy lab behind you.

You're holding on to the hovering bed when the mission begins. Its passenger is the Maian known as Elvis. The idea is to pilot him out of harm's way. Begin by heading straight forward through the doors ahead. Go through another set of doors into the main lab hall.

Beyond a set of sliding doors, you'll encounter a pair of lab techs. Don't drop the gurney. Just shoot them over Elvis. Then head forward through the brown door. Go around the corner and down the ramp to yet another door. Let go of the hoverbed for a moment while you open the door, then grab it again and take the Maian through.

Hidden Item:
3 Remote Mines: If you can get Elvis to the containment area in under 36 seconds, you'll score some Remote Mines. Find them atop a crate behind one of the containment rooms.

Go into the containment lab to the right, following the slope down to a door. Head through and dart ahead into a safe area behind a partial wall. Now creep to the right, carefully taking down the three guards gathered here.

When the guards are dead, head to the left side of the room and through a door. This takes you to a series of catwalks above a large chasm. There are three guards on this walkway. Cling to the left rock face and creep, falling back behind the jutting rock if you draw fire.

Move to the other end of the walkway and through the door. Here, you'll see a glass wall with a barrel in front of it. Push the barrel until it is touching the glass. Then back up and blast it. Doing so will open up access to a small control panel. Use it to unlock the Medical containment doors.

Perfect objective: Locate alien tech medpack
Head around the next corner, dropping the guard here. In the easily-passable door to the right is a Shield (Agent and Special) or the alien medpack (Perfect). Grab it and head through the sliding doors.

Go through a series of sliding doors. Kill the guard at the end of this stretch, then round the corner and smoke the guard stationed here. Move across this next catwalk to another door. Around the corner to the left is Jonathon Dark, your contact. The Objective will be complete for now. However, if he gets killed in the course of the level, this objective will then fail.

2. Locate secret hangar

The nest stretch of this level involves fighting our way back to the room behind the containment area. Jonathon will help you in your fight now. Just be careful to keep him out of your line of fire. The best way to do this is to choose a side of hall to guard and let him take the other.

Immediately after you meet up with him, you'll have to spin and take down a quartet of guards. Quickly dispatch them, then run ahead to clear a path for Jonathon. The worst part of this firefight is in the area just before all of the sliding doors. A bunch of guards will charge from the left. Cling to the right wall and use the Grenade Launcher on the Super Dragon to clear clumps of enemies.

Then backtrack through the rest of the level. Pause at the last door before reentering the room behind the containment lab. There are a group of guards just beyond this door. Blast them with the SuperDragon, then step through making sure Jonathon is behind you.

When he enters, he will begin setting explosives. Hang near him and keep you aim trained on the silver door you just came from. Keep the guards at bay with the Super Dragon. When Jonathon tells you to move, head to the left. Keep plugging intruders as the explosives go off. Head through the hole made in the wall to complete the objective.

3. Revive Maian Bodyguard

There are plenty of guards in the hangar to keep you busy. Blast the pair in the corner of the catwalk, then go down the ramp. Directly beneath this ramp is a door. Go through it to find Elvis. Equip the alien medpack and use it. After a few moments, he will shake himself awake. Objective complete.

4. Escape from Area 51

There is an alien saucer parked in this large hangar area. Make your way over to it, protecting Elvis and covering Jonathon as he joins you. As you get to the saucer, the group will discuss the escape.

Before the chat even ends, head back up the ramp and take up a position facing the blast hole.

Kill anything that comes through. This will give Jonathon an opportunity to access the small terminals on either end of this upstairs catwalks. When he complete this, the hangar doors will open and Elvis (and you) will fly to safety.
