anemia is adisease characterised by decreased hemoglopin'the
protien responsible for oxygen carrieny all over the body' or decreased red blood cell count below the normal level regarding the age and status of the indivisual
iron deficiency anemia occurs mainly due to nutritional insufeciencyof
iron supplement ,it could be also due to occult bleeding of the gi system or mal absorption of iron in the small intestine
females are more prone to get the diseas due to the blood loss during menstruation and increase the demand of requirment of iron during pregnancy
symptoms are :fatigue ,pallor ahortness of breathe during exercise or stair climbing
pale hand palms and conjunctiva
tachycardia espescialy after physical activity
management:the doctor should do a CBC'complete blood count' and blood film:usually the red blood cell appear microcytic hypochromatic
iron stores can be measured by measuring the firrittin level in the
plasma
platelet count are usualy normal or slightly increased due to the compensatory mechanism of the bone marrow
treatment: if the anemia is mild you can treat it with only changing the nutritional habbits if it is moderate or sever you give the patient oral iron supplement if he didnt tolerate the oral supplement you can give parenteral iron by im or iv but this should be the last step becuase of high risk of allergy and anaphylaxis
