Halo: Combat Evolved, or simply Halo, is a video game in the first-person shooter (FPS) genre, created by the Microsoft-owned Bungie Studios. It was released for the Xbox game console on November 15, 2001.
The Halo series is a series of first-person shooter video games developed by Bungie Studios and published by Microsoft. So far, two games have been released. In addition, although it has not been announced, a third game seems likely. The games' setting is very similar to the earlier Marathon games by Bungie. They are renowned for their relatively deep storylines, use of vehicles in gameplay and their multiplayer mode. ...
Halos are optical phenomena that appear near or around the Sun or Moon, and sometimes near other strong light sources such as street lights. There are many types of halos, but they are mostly caused by ice crystals in cold cirrus clouds located high (5-10 km, or 3-6 miles) in the upper troposphere. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals is responsible for the type of halo observed. ...
A light line around object edges in an image, produced by the USM (sharpening) technique.
any of a variety of bright circles or arcs centered on the sun or moon, caused by the refraction or reflection of light by ice crystals suspended in the earth's atmosphere and exhibiting prismatic coloration ranging from red inside to blue outside.
Class of atmospheric phenomenon similar to a rainbow but caused by the refraction of light by ice crystals. The most common halo, called a parhely, shows as a rainbow circle 22° around the sun, sometimes a secondary circle is visible 46° around the sun and in even better conditions other structures are visible: sundogs and Peary's arcs.
The matter surrounding a galaxy
Ring' or arcs that occur as a result of sunlight or moonlight shining through high cloud or ice crystals resemble faint rainbows in the sky.
A dream of your self with a halo may signify that perfection is a goal. Alternatively, it may represent an exaggerated "holier than thou" attitude.
The radiance streaming from the head of a holy person. See also AUREOLE.
A ring or arc forming around the sun or moon caused by ice crystal clouds
A type of rater error in which the rater has an overall impression of the subject and that impression overrides scoring of individual items.
Halo phenomena constitute a large group of phenomena produced by the refraction or reflection of the light of the sun or moon by the ice crystals composing cirrus or cirrostratus cloud. The commonest is the halo of about 22° radius round the sun or moon; other fairly common forms are mock suns (or moons), sun pillars, the halo of 46° radius, etc. (See Corona).
A metal ring used for patients with upper spinal cord injuries that surrounds or encircles the patient's head, allowing for proper alignment of the neck and spinal column.
Most commonly, a dark area surrounding an unusually bright object, caused by overloading of the camera tube. Reflection of studio lights from a piece of jewelry, for example, might cause this effect. With certain camera tube operating adjustments, a white area may surround dark objects
The immediate area surrounding the signal. Only present in some cultivars but producing a color shading or pattern worth noting. It may be the most distinctive color pattern in the description
Loss of detail in bright images because of internal reflections between the mask and the screen.
High-Altitude Low-Opening parachuting technique; first performed in 1941 from 30,800 to 1500 feet as a controlled demonstration to prove aviators could survive extreme delayed-opening ejections from disabled aircraft.
Drama is the draw at the 94-room Morrison Hotel’s Halo restaurant. Deep purple velvet drapes cut across black, reflective walls. Velvet throws drape white chairs contrasting with dark oak tables. Ever-changing light washes over the two-story atrium space centered on a three-paneled gold painting of two paths crossing, emphasizing the East-meets-West aura that permeates the entire property. ...
rim of color around the petals, usually contrasting to the main color, not found on plics.
The ring of light that seems to encircle the sun or moon when veiled by cirrus clouds. To produce this phenomena, the ice crystals must be in a heterogeneous arrangement to refract the sunlight. The most commonly observed is a halo that forms at a 22° radius, although another one at 46° radius may also be seen.
