According to Microsoft, more than one million units of the Xbox shipped to retailers in the first three weeks of the system's launch, with 1.1 million units sold-in to retailers. The system obviously hasn't suffered from the lack of units that made the PS2 launch last year such a consumer frenzy, but retail is said to be regularly selling out of their shipments of the system, as well as counting solid sales of highlight titles like Halo, Dead or Alive 3, NFL Fever 2002 and Tony Hawk 2X.
As for the rest of the holiday season, Microsoft has plans to ship another 300,000 units by the end of the year. If not quite reaching the original 1.5 million unit projection, it certainly comes close, and has vaporized the rumors earlier this year that Microsoft wouldn't be anywhere near to meeting those originally projected numbers.
