Asslam Alikum everyone and Happy Eid!

So it was Eid... I know it is kind of late to congratulate Eid..
anyway... as I noticed after going back to school after Eid that people often when they speak of Eid they talk about it from their own prospective, Every one has their own tradition for Eid.
So how about you share your tradition of Eid with us? have you ever actually thought that you have a tradition? to me I never noticed this up to this Eid when I suddenly realized that we do the same thing every Eid.
So here's how it goes in my house
we go to pray Eid prayer, of course but lately I've going with my brother and his wife.. and every Eid they have to wake up late and say something about not going but then they do go and we would as a ruselt of walk hal the way and end up in the street with the rest of poepl who are late!:D
after that come breakfast... and it is a feast in our house as it is the family house.. all my sisters and brothers with their kids comes to our house, I set with the rest of them to eat but I end up with out eating...! you see you would say " can you pass me the olive" and then somebody would try to hand you the olive but by the time it reachs you, it would be over so you would go and get more olives just to find out that they need more chees and so on.
after breakfast, we exchange gifts, one of my friends was surprised that we do so, as a matter of fact I think it is the sweetest thing in the whole year, we don't get big fancy gifts... I might simply get cookies, the thing is that you know there is someone who loves you, it is always nice to show how much you care about those whom you love.

one of the greatest traditons we have is that every Eid I would call my sister in law a few days before Eid and say " Hey woman are you going to make Eid cake for us? "
and she would replay "No, but do you want me to ? "
-"No"
-"OK then"
-"!#@ you are supposed to say, I would love to make you cakes even though I didn't want to and or something like that"
and then she end up baking the cake

in the night we visits my aunts which is something I found really important..you see my aunts-my dad's sisters- are old and I don't see them a lot and so they don't know who in the world am I...they alwayes call me wiht any of my elder sisters names:bigeyes:... and so I found it amusing to see them in Eid!
this is pretty much what is Eid like for me.. the rest of it is me and my family...

so how about you share with me your Eid? did I say that before...
then go ahead and tell me about yours ;)

3alikum asslam and happy Eid for you too Amal

My whole life, the Eid for me was like this
Go to "Al-Mashhad" with the rest of the people
come back
go straight to home
wish a happy and pleasant Eid to my family
then go out
do the whole Happy Eid thing again, with my friends this time
go to a specific house in our neighborhood
have the breakfast there
and then...well
.
.
nothing is for sure after that
I might go out with mt friends
or I can simply go home and have a nice sleep
and thats it for me
we don't have much of relatives here so..we don't go
knocking on other doors that much
the other social visits do not involve me
which pretty much means I spend the whole Eid
just goofing around
.
.
by the way: the baked cake saga is just....COOL

Asslam Alikum
Hey, dream catcher nice to see you in my topic
sounds like a nice Eid to me...
the best part of all- I think- is that no matter how you spend it, you just end up happy, the whole point is that you come after Eid saying how happy you were.. with your family or friends or even by yourself!
thanks for dropping by
