oC STARTS IN THE BIOS MOST HIGH END motherboards support it
The IDea is to increase the FSB (Front side bus
266 Suppose you have a q6600 which runs on a
MHZ Bus (266x 9=2400 then you increase the 266 to 280 for example then the new processor speed is 280 times 9 which 2520 is
But its not that simple more speed means more power consumption which is more heat so be carefull you must have a good cooling and never allow cpu to exeed Intel specs for heat under load, the other thing is you can increase the cpu voltage in bios if Pc is not booting with the new FSB

and by increasing the FSB you automaticly overclock the Ram so you must either change ram multiplayer to keep it within specs or increase the ram voltage

OC is soooooooooooooo fun when you go into watercooling chillers and phase change

All of my PC's run overclocked smooth and easy Some with over 35 percent gain

ONce you pop you cant stop You can easily get 10 to 20 percent on the G0 intel CPU's with a good cooler like
zalman 9700 or
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme CPU Cooler

This is not a guide, OC is very risky and could damage your PC. Your PC your Risk not mine

thanks alot

this is my PC , what rates should i go for?

intel q6600 GO
evga 680i sli T1
4gb ram 800mhz
tt 750 power supply
xfx geforce 8800gt 670mhz sli 2 of them
OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler
tt khandalf case
vista 64 bit
wd 150gb raptor

i just want to get to 3.0 and speed up the ram , not going to OC the GPUs

i need the rates for volts fsb memory and any info could help
thanks

nice setup I have the same mobo
What brand is the ram and whats the timing 5-5-5-15

first startup pc press dell
this will take you to bios
go to advanced chippest features
then go to FSB & memory configuration
in the FSB - Memory clockmode choose unlinked
then in the FSB QDR change the FSB from 1066 to 1200
press f10 and save configuration restart computer and if it works you should test for stability
this will take your computer to 2.7
if its not stable or you want to increase the speed further when you go to bios go to advanced chippest features then system voltages then change the cpu core from auto to 1.375
leave everything else on auto

dont try to overclock both ram and cpu at same time when you done oc cpu you can start thinking about ram oc

make sure to leave the case panels open just for testing to be cool

Just be carefull this is risky

make sure to use a fan on the ocz Vendetta at a high speed

download this program to check temperatures

http://www.almico.com/sfbetaprogram.php

and this program to check speeds

good luck
