Games industry publication MCV has the scoop today on Grand Theft Auto IV's release date, claiming that the title will go on sale in the final week of April 2008. Citing sources "close to the game's publisher" they say that the game will go on sale in the United Kingdom on April 25th.
This appears to follow recent trends for Grand Theft Auto release dates, which have almost always been pushed back to be in the final week of Take 2 Interactive's fiscal quarters. Yesterday, the company said that the game would go on sale some time in its second fiscal quarter of 2008, which ends on April 30th.
A UK release date of April 25th would indicate that the game would release just prior to this in North America, with Tuesday April 22nd most likely. As usual though, Rockstar Games said that it does not comment on "rumours and speculation".
MCV is the UK's top games industry trade publication and has more credibility than most others worldwide. Its forecasts and industry insider comment are almost always true, with a recent example being its advanced notice of goings on with Manhunt 2 (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/27926/Rockstar-finally-appeals-BBFCs-Manhunt-ban) in the UK.

Rockstar Games has a special treat for fans who preorder Grand Theft Auto IV this Christmas. If you're lucky enough to live in Belgium, Luxembourg or the Netherlands and preorder the game soon, you'll get a special package with some nice treats inside.
The "IV Christmas Pre Order Pack" includes a DVD with all three currently released game trailers, a GTA IV branded gift card and a set of postcards which presumably include game artwork.

"We are pleased that the Court took decisive and appropriate action to dismiss a case that Take-Two has always known had no basis in law or in fact."

The Judge disposed of the case because neither Sony nor Take Two Interactive has offices or business presence in the state of New Mexico. Thompson has 30 days to file an appeal.
