No demo for Grand Theft Auto IV (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/no-demo-for-grand-theft-auto-iv/)

It's no secret that around these parts, we love demos. In fact, we love them so much that when a game doesn't have a demo, we start to get a little nervous. "What are they hiding?" we wonder aloud, much to the chagrin of our friends and family. So you can imagine our disappointment when we read (http://www.videogamer.com/news/28-02-2008-7647.html) today that we shouldn't be expecting a demo for Rockstar's upcoming crime epic, Grand Theft Auto IV.
OK, so that doesn't necessarily have us worried about the quality (it is GTA after all), and their excuses for going sans demo do make sense. But will that stop us from being moderately grumpy for the next hour as a result? No. No it won't.

GTA IV Game Play Demo (http://kotaku.com/gaming/played/gta-iv-game-play-demo-277827.php)
http://kotaku.com/assets/resources/2007/07/DSCF8954.JPG At today's Take2 presser, a demo of GTA IV gameplay was shown. Since Take2 wouldn't allow us to take pics of the presser (and apparently even had night vision googles to prevent it!), we don't have any snap shots of the footage. Instead, you get a photo of free t-shirts!
Here's what happened: the main character Niko stands in Liberty City's equivalent of Times Square. He trots over to a black sedan. He gets in. He drives a few blocks and gets out at the docks. He looks at the water. He gets out his cell phone and calls for guns. The end.
Exciting! In Rockstar's defense, they told us it was short on purpose, and that it was simply a taste. Or a bite. Or a morsel. The code they showed was unfinished, and the music was a placeholder. What's more, the voice track hadn't yet been dropped in. Still, it looked nice and will sell exactly one bagazillion copies. You can quote me.
