Bill Gates joins Nintendo
Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is escorted across the street to Nintendo.
Following the recent high-profile defection of Nintendo's Ken Lobb to Microsoft, a key architect in Microsoft's Xbox strategy has changed camps as well: Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates. Though no official announcement has been made by either company, word has spread quickly throughout the industry since Gates resigned earlier today.
Gates' position with Nintendo has not been revealed, but sources inside Nintendo report that the he will oversee one of the company's largest properties. The only clue provided so far as to which property came from a comment made during Gates' exit interview. "I like Pokémon," Gates was quoted by an unidentified Microsoft employee as saying. "A lot." Gates founded Microsoft in 1975 with childhood friend Paul Allen, who is reportedly also likely to join Nintendo.
GameSpot will have more on this story as it develops.
