WWE Smackdown! Results - 5/8/03

WWE Smackdown! Opener:

Smackdown! opened up with footage from last week when Mr. America made his debut on Piper's Pit. Mr. America, who is obviously Hulk Hogan under a mask, claimed that he wasn't Hogan. Despite that, Vince McMahon attempted to fire Mr. America but Mr. America revealed that he had signed a contract with Stephanie McMahon that stated that he couldn't be fired or suspended so he's here to stay. Having said that, Vince McMahon was out to prove that it was Hulk Hogan under the mask but he was unable to do so last week. Will Vince McMahon be able to pull the mask off Mr. America tonight, should he appear?

In ring promo:

Vince McMahon's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the Chairman of the WWE.

Vince took the mic and said that tonight right here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Vince McMahon presents Hulk Hogan! For those of you who think that he's had a change of heart about Hogan, think again. Hogan is going to be here, but he's going to be here via satellite and not physically here. The fans booed and Vince said that he's spending money to hook Hogan up from his hometown of Tampa, Florida. Since Hogan isn't going to be here, that means that Mr. America won't be here as well. You see, this all started when Vince paid Hogan his full contract to stay at home and rot away. Is that what he did? No, he showed up here last week on Smackdown!, dressed up in some ridiculous red, white and blue outfit with a mask on, claiming to be Mr. America. Now the whole damn world knows that Mr. America really is Hulk Hogan. The whole world knows it, even the Canadians in attendance tonight.

Vince continued on and the fans chanted "You screwed Bret," referring to the 1997 screw job at the Survivor Series. Vince admitted to doing it and laughed. After that, Vince introduced the General Manager, Stephanie McMahon to the ring. Vince didn't let her music play because he didn't seem too pleased with her. Vince then asked Stephanie how she got him into this mess. Tell him how and why she signed so called Mr. America to a contract. Stephanie said she did what she thought was right for the fans of Smackdown!. She did what she thought was right for business. She heard all about Mr. America and she wanted him and she's got him. Vince congratulated her because he didn't want Mr. America. So what are the terms and conditions of the contract? Stephanie said that he had to counter Bischoff's every offer to sign him. Therefore, she had to offer him a contract she has never offered before. Mr. America cannot under any circumstances be fired or suspended. Vince said that he's so proud of Stephanie that he can't tell her how proud he is. Now then why doesn't she tell him how he's going to get out of this contract? How is he going to break it, because he's going to do it? Stephanie said that she's been thinking about it all week since he put her job on the line. There is one way... if he can prove that Mr. America is Hulk Hogan then Mr. America's contract is null and void. Vince said that he has some thoughts on the matter and he would suggest that Stephanie takes her leave and think about it as well. Vince told her to come up with some really good ideas and while she is thinking about how Vince is going to break this contract, without further adieu, live from Tampa, Florida, he gives us Hulk Hogan.

Vince asked Hogan how Mr. America is and how is he these days? Vince asked Hogan why he risked everything that he has by showing up on Smackdown! as Mr. America last week? Hogan said that he doesn't know what Vince is talking about. Hogan said that he's dying sitting at home. Maybe one day he will get a chance to return to action and maybe he'll get a chance to team up with Mr. America, brother! And another thing, he really enjoyed watching Mr. America kick Vince's ass last week just as much as he enjoyed kicking Vince's ass at Wrestlemania, dude! Vince asked him if he intends on continuing this charade as Mr. America? Hogan said this is no charade... he'd like to meet Mr. America one on one. Hogan will admit that they do look similar and he can see how people might get confused but Hogan is a lot bigger than him and a lot better looking. Since he's 3000 miles away in Tampa, Florida, he's got a suggestion so they can finish this. Why not see Mr. America tonight in Halifax, Nova Scotia? Hogan said to quote one great American, George Washington; he cannot tell a lie. There is a good chance that Mr. America just might show up there tonight, dude!

Vince said that he seriously doubts that. None the less, George Washington was an old fool and Hogan would be a fool to continue this charade because if and when Mr. America shows his ugly face again, Vince will rip the mask right off his face and expose him for who Hogan is. So whatchu gonna do when Vincent Kennedy McMahon rips the red, white and blue off of him and destroys him?!

Backstage:

Vince was shown walking backstage and a backstage worker showed up and told Vince that Mr. America is here in the building! Vince didn't take the guy too seriously and then he continued on his way.


Non Title Match
Referee: Jim Korderas
Eddie Guerrero vs. Matt Hardy (c)
Los Guerreros made their way out to the ring wearing Kurt Angle's gold medals and this is a one on one contest with Eddie Guerrero against Matt Hardy, who was accompanied to the ring by Shannon Moore and Crash Holly.

The start:

Eddie and Matt locked it up in the center of the ring and Eddie backed Matt against the ropes and then took him down to the mat with a side headlock.

Mid-match notes:

Eddie Guerrero took Matt down to the mat with a series of vertical suplexes and then he went to the top rope for the frog splash but Matt rolled out of the way. Matt then rolled Eddie up with an Oklahoma roll but only got a two count.

Matt went for the Twist of Fate on Eddie but Eddie shoved Matt into the ropes to break it up.

The finish:

Eddie Guerrero pulled Matt down to the mat with a quick arm drag and then rolled Matt up in a pin for the three count to get the win.


Winner - Eddie Guerrero
The Aftermath:

Team Angle stormed to the ringside area and jumped Chavo Guerrero and stole the gold medals back for Kurt Angle and then left.

Backstage:

The Big Show was shown with the FBI and they were talking amongst themselves as Mr. America walked by.

Brian Kendrick vs. Jamie Noble
Brian Kendrick made his way out to the ring and he took the mic and said that he came out here last week and had a little rap off with John Cena. You know what he did? He kicked Kendrick's butt. Why? Because every time he said Cena the crowd said sucks. Just like this... Cena (sucks)! Jamie Noble then made his way out to the ring as the opponent of Spanky and he came out with his girlfriend, Nidia.

The start:

Brian and Noble locked it up and Kendrick took Jamie down to one knee and Jamie fought back and put Brian in a hammer lock.

Mid-match notes:

Jamie Noble knocked Kendrick to the outside of the ring and Nidia kicked away on him behind the referee's back.

John Cena was shown looking on from the backstage area with invested interest in this match.

The finish:

Kendrick planted Jamie Noble with the sliced bread # 2 to get the win!


Winner - Brian Kendrick
Backstage:

John Cena was shown backstage and he didn't seem too happy that Kendrick won the match and Mr. America showed up, took a look and then went on his way.

Update on Mysterio:

Mysterio isn't cleared to wrestle yet, but he's getting better as the days go by. Despite that, Rey Mysterio is expected to join us next week.

Backstage:

Josh caught up with Brock and asked him for his thoughts on tonight's match. Brock said that he and Chris Benoit are going to handle A-Train and The Big Show no problem. And another thing, Big Show challenged him for the WWE Title at Judgment Day but he's got something to add to that. Since Big Show likes stretchers so much, why don't they make their match a stretcher match? That way, he can guarantee one thing... at Judgment Day, Big Show will leave on a stretcher!

Backstage:

Vince was shown backstage and Funaki showed up and he said that he is going to watch Mr. America. He is headed out to the ring right now! Vince laughed in Funaki's face and said that's an imposter walking around backstage because Hulk Hogan is in Tampa. Vince then used Funaki as his slave and had him serve him some coffee. Vince thanked him and told him he can take off and then he told Funaki that he's going to watch this on television himself.

In ring promo:

Mr. America made his way out to the ring to Hulk Hogan's old music and he continued to do the Hulk Hogan mannerisms as Vince and Stephanie watched on from the backstage area.

As the fans heavily chanted "Hogan, Hogan," Vince got a close look at the screen to try to see who it was in the ring. Mr. America took the mic and said "Well let me tell you something brothers!" With that, Vince and Stephanie both got up and Mr. America said that he came here to the great white north to make a simple point... like he said last week, he is not Hulk Hogan! Just a couple weeks ago, even longer than that, let's take you way back. A long time ago, he was a 165 pound accountant working in New Jersey when he decided to buy Wrestlemania. That's when he saw him, Hulk Hogan. There was just something about Hulk Hogan. Maybe it was the way he battled and never quit. Maybe it was the way at Wrestlemania in the Toronto Skydome, all the Hulkamaniacs were just going crazy! After he saw Wrestlemania, he decided to quit his day job and he started training, saying his prayers, eating his vitamins and he became Mr. America! And he knows right now that Hulk Hogan is at home watching and he has one thing to say to Hogan is thank you.

Vince McMahon's music then hit in the arena and he made his way out, an angered man. Vince said that he knows what Hogan is trying to pull off. Last time he checked, Hulkamania wasn't some sort of a super hero. Last time he checked, Vince McMahon was a man of his word and out here tonight earlier, he said that if Hogan ever showed up in his ring again, he was going to rip the mask right off of his face! That's exactly what his daughter Stephanie is going to do. Stephanie then came out and Vince whispered something into her ear and Vince told Mr. America that this is the way this is going to go down... like he said before, he's a man of his word. Vince got Mr. America to turn his back and then he gave Mr. America a low blow and then he tried to tear the mask off of Mr. America but Mr. America fought to keep the mask on. Mr. America shoved Vince off of him and Stephanie went sailing down to the mat and then Mr. America "hulked up." Vince turned around and saw Mr. America and Vince went for a right hand on Mr. America but in typical Hogan fashion, Mr. America knocked Vince down with two right hands! Mr. America then lifted Stephanie off the mat and carried her to the backstage area.

Vince dusted himself off and got back in the ring and then he ran towards the backstage area after Mr. America with the fans chanting "You screwed Bret."

Backstage:

Stephanie was shown getting an ice pack on her head and Vince stormed into the ring looking for Hogan. The trainer told Vince that security saw him leaving the building and Stephanie didn't seem too pleased that Vince didn't show compassion for her. Stephanie then told Vince that he's the one that hurt her, not Mr. America. Vince tried to blame Hogan but she'll be all right. She's a McMahon, damnit.

Dawn Marie vs. Torrie Wilson
Sable's music hit in the arena and she made her way out to the ringside area and sat down next to the commentators for this next contest with Torrie Wilson against Dawn Marie.

The start:

As Torrie was distracted with Sable sitting at ringside, Dawn shoved her to knock her down to the mat.

The finish:

Dawn lifted Torrie up over her head in a fireman carry but Torrie countered it into a sunset flip to get the win.


Winner - Torrie Wilson
The Aftermath:

Torrie got out of the ring and left as Sable got in the ring with a mic. Sable said that she just wanted to congratulate Torrie on her victory. It must feel great to finally break that losing streak. She held the Sable Invitational to find out which WWE Diva could match up to her (Sable) physically. Now she must admit that Torrie looked a little bloated and that's why she lost. Sable knows the fans think she should have won and she is a fair woman, so why doesn't she see how she matches up against Sable? That's right, Sable vs. Torrie in a bikini contest. Playboy Centerfold vs. Playboy Centerfold. But the real question is does Torrie really want to find out if her body is as hard and oh so Sablelicious as Sable's? Torrie then unzipped her pink outfit and revealed her body to Sable and the fans erected, excuse me, erupted.


Non Title Match
Referee: Jim Korderas
Rikishi and Tajiri vs. Team Angle (c)
Team Angle made their way out to the ring as the WWE Tag Team Champions and they brought out their picture of Kurt Angle on the easel and this is a non title match with Team Angle against Rikishi and Tajiri.

The start:

Rikishi started the match off in the ring against Charlie Haas and the two locked it up and Rikishi twisted the arm of Haas and Haas countered with an arm wringer of his own until Rikishi knocked Haas down with a right hand.

Mid-match notes:

Rikishi went for the stink face on Shelton Benjamin but while the referee was busy with Haas, Shelton gave Rikishi a low blow.

Rikishi put Haas in the tarantula as Shelton Benjamin hooked Rikishi up on the other side of the ring.

The finish:

Charlie gave Tajiri an inverted atomic drop and then Shelton hit him with a super kick and Charlie rolled Tajiri up in a three count to get the win.


Winners, the WWE Tag Team Champions, Team Angle
The Aftermath:

Los Guerreros came out to the ring and stole the big poster of Kurt Angle and the gold medals and left through the crowd!

Backstage:

Chris Benoit was shown backstage taping up his wrists and tonight, he'll team with the WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar, who was also shown.

John Cena vs. Rhyno
Brian Kendrick joined Michael Cole and Tazz for some commentary during this next match which is John Cena vs. Rhyno. Before the match, John Cena took the mic and did a rap on Rhyno and Brian Kendrick.

The start:

Rhyno got in the ring with Cena and stood face to face with him and Cena shoved Rhyno back and Rhyno fired back on John Cena with a number of right hands into the corner.

Mid-match notes:

Cena went to lift Rhyno up for the FU but Rhyno countered it and whipped Cena off the ropes and planted him with a spinebuster.

The finish:

As John Cena went for the steel chain, Spanky got up and took the chain and then Rhyno rolled John Cena up from behind to pick up the win!

The Aftermath:

Cena shoved Rhyno to the outside of the ring and then he ran after Spanky. Spanky ran through the crowd and Cena went after him but Rhyno pulled him back and went for the Gore on the outside of the ring but Cena moved out of the way and Rhyno hit his knee on the steel steps.

Backstage:

The FBI were shown backstage and they talked about what they did to the Undertaker, Nathan Jones and Chris Benoit. That's why everybody comes to the FBI because they know they get the job done!

Backstage:

Brock Lesnar was shown walking backstage but he was cut off by Nunzio. Nunzio told Brock that he has to show some respect around here. What he said about The Big Show and A-Train was disrespectful. If he disrespects them, he disrespects Nunzio. Brock shoved Nunzio aside and then Nunzio nailed Brock and ran into a room, or so Brock thought and then the FBI trapped Brock Lesnar in a room with a fork lift as A-Train and Big Show showed up, telling them they did a great job. While they take care of that, The Big Show is getting ready for his match against Chris Benoit. A-Train wanted the match but The Big Show said that tonight, Chris Benoit is going out on a stretcher!

Chris Benoit vs. The Big Show
The Big Show and A-Train made their way out to the ring and The Big Show carried a stretcher out to the ring, the same one that Rey Mysterio was taken out on at Backlash.

The start:

Benoit stood face to face with Big Show and Big Show shoved Benoit right down to the mat. Big Show then grabbed Chris Benoit and slapped him as hard as he could across the chest as the fans chanted for Benoit.

Mid-match notes:

Big Show knocked Benoit to the outside of the ring and then A-Train hammered away on Benoit and then rolled him back into the ring where The Big Show lifted him up and gave him a delayed vertical suplex.

Chris Benoit went to the top rope and came off with a shoulder block to knock The Big Show down and then he crawled into the cover and got a two count on The Big Show.

The Big Show shoved Benoit into the ropes and then grabbed him by the throat and went for a choke slam but Chris Benoit countered it into a Crossface. A-Train grabbed the stretcher and tried to get in the ring but Benoit drop kicked the stretcher into A-Train's face.

The finish:

Chris Benoit went for the Crossface again but The Big Show broke it and gave him the choke slam to pick up the win.

The Aftermath:

After the match, A-Train and The Big Show dominated Chris Benoit and then the two put him on the stretcher and A-Train told The Big Show to swing him into the steel post but Brock Lesnar stormed to the ring and hammered away on A-Train as The Big Show got in the ring. Brock got in the ring and The Big Show hit him in the back and then Brock took The Big Show down to the mat with a double leg take down and A-Train got in the ring and Brock gave him the F5 and then The Big Show gave Brock Lesnar a cheap shot. The Big Show then planted Brock Lesnar with a big time choke slam to a chorus of boos as the show went off the air.

في إعلان الحلقة :

عمل السّيّد أميريكا مخرجه إلى الخاتم إلى الضّخم موسيقى هوجن القديمة و استمرّ في عمل أساليب هوجن الضخم بينما (كما) شاهد فينس و ستيفاني من المنطقة الخاصّة بحياة الفنّان .

نفض فينس نفسه بعيدًا و رجع في الخاتم ثمّ هو جرى نحو المنطقة الخاصّة بحياة الفنّان بعد السّيّد أميريكا مع المعجبين يردّدون سمّرت بريت ."

ستيفاني أُظْهِرَ يحصل على جليد عائم على رأسها و فينس ها اقتحم في الخاتم يبحث عن هوجن . أخبر المدرّب فينس أن الأمن رآه يترك المبنى و ستيفاني لم يبد أيضًا مسرور أن فينس لم يظهر التّعاطف معها . ستيفاني بعد ذلك أخبر فينس أنّه الذي جرحها, ليس السّيّد أمريكا . حاول فينس لوم هوجن لكنّ ستكون بخير . هي مكماهون, دامنيت .

عمل ناجح موسيقى الفرو سمور في الحلبة و عملت مخرجها لمساحة الطّرف و جلست بجانب المعلّقين لهذه المسابقة القادمة مع توري ويلسون ضدّ داون ماريّ .

البداية :

بينما شُتِّتَ توري بالفرو سمور يجلس في الطّرف, داون دفعها لضربها حتّى البساط .

النّهاية :

رفع داون توري على رأسها في رجل مطافئ يحمل لكنّ توري تصدّى له في دفعة غروب للحصول على الفوز .

النّتيجة :

البداية :

استدعى رهينو الخاتم مع سينا و وقف وجهًا لوجه معه و سينا دفع رهينو ثانيةً و رهينو أطلق النّار ثانيةً على جون سينا بعدد من الأيدي اليمناء في الرّكن .

من وراء الكواليس :

بروك ليسنار أُظْهِرَ يمشي من وراء الكواليس لكنه قُطِعَ من قبل ننزيو . أخبر ننزيو بروك أن يجب عليه أن يظهر بعض الاحترام قريبًا هنا . ما قاله عن العرض الكبير و القطار كان مشينًا . إذا احتقرهم, يحتقر ننزيو . دفع بروك ننزيو جانبًا ثمّ ننزيو سمّر بروك و صدم حجرة, أو نحو ذلك تفكير بروك ثمّ مكتب التّحقيق الفيدراليّ حبس بروك ليسنار في حجرة برفع شوكة بينما (كما) جاء قطار و معرض كبير, يخبرانهم أنهم عملوا عملاً عظيمًا . بينما يولّون الاهتمام بذلك, المعرض الكبير يستعدّ لمباراته ضدّ كريس بينويت . أراد قطار المباراة لكنّ المعرض الكبير قال أن اللّيلة, كريس بينويت يخرج على نقّالة !

دفع المعرض الكبير بينويت في الحبال ثمّ انتزعه بالحلق و ذهب لانغلاق بوجيه لكنّ كريس بينويت تصدّى له في كروسفيس . انتزع قطار النّقّالة و حاول استدعاء الخاتم لكنّ قطرة بينويت ركلت النّقّالة في وجه قطار .

النّهاية :

ذهب كريس بينويت لكروسفيس ثانيةً لكنّ المعرض الكبير كسره و أعطاه انغلاق البوجيه للتقاط الفوز .

النّتيجة :

بعد أن سيطرت المباراة, قطار و المعرض الكبير على كريس بينويت ثمّ الاثنان وضعاه على النّقّالة و قطار أخبر العرض الكبير أن يدوّره في عمود الصّلب لكنّ بروك ليسنار اقتحم إلى الخاتم و ضرب قطار بينما (كما) استدعى المعرض الكبير الخاتم . استدعى بروك الخاتم و المعرض الكبير ضربه في المؤخّرة ثمّ بروك أخذ المعرض الكبير إلى البساط برجل مزدوجة يفكّ و قطار استدعى الخاتم و بروك أعطاه F5 ثمّ المعرض الكبير أعطى ملاحظة فظّة بروك ليسنار . المعرض الكبير بعد ذلك غرس بروك ليسنار انغلاق بوجيه مكانة رفيعة إلى لازمة بوو بينما (كما) أصبح العرض غير مذاع .
