Microsoft – 12.30-3.30pm CET, Tuesday, August 17
Expect this to be Kinect-heavy. A European release date is a given. We’ve been promised a “bunch” of announcements, but we’re still a little unsure of how this is going to play out in terms of format. We’re told there’s a press conference and we’ll liveblog the lot, but this may be a little more “free-form” than the others. It’s called “Play Day” and it’s three hours long, so open Kinect-testing is probably going to swallow the bulk of this.
Bungie and Lionhead are in the house with Reach and Fable III, and a push on Microsoft’s PC gaming efforts is likely. Aside from the Kinect date, though, don’t expect anything too earth-shattering. As with the rest of the show, this is mainly going to be a re-cap of the content you saw from LA in June. No mention of Gears 3 in the prep so far, oddly. We’ll have three staff in here liveblogging.
EA – 4.00pm CET, Tuesday, August 17
EA’s booking two-hour booth tours for press in Cologne, so expect a lot of new media on announced titles. The jewels of EA’s press conference are sure to be a first proper look at Dragon Age 2 and the newly-announced SHIFT 2, but new details on Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2 and Hot Pursuit are highly likely. EA went large at gamescom last year, and don’t expect 2010 to be any different. We’ll have three people in here.
Sony – 6.00pm CET, Tuesday, August 17
Watch for GT5, inFamous 2, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, some nice entertainment peripheral stuff and at least one big software announcement. SCEE president Andrew House will be in action, and there’ll be plenty more here.
Move will be in full effect. Sony loves the big German show, choosing it to announce Slim and a price cut last year, so keep one eye open for a megaton. As that bloke in Predator 2 said, “Shit ‘appens.” We’ll have two people in this one.
