well.. basically because it's a bit hard to express arabic thoughts in english... so if you want to really connect, you should start "thinking" in english

sorry I'll interrupt ur conversation.. just i want to tell ur idea is wrong Doel .. coz the language is not interfer in the communication between 2 persons or more .. coz when u want to express ur feelings or thoughts u will expres them by ur mind or by ur heart not by ur language

To tell the truth, i believed so too..

but later on as you come more and more in touch with people from other cultures, you notice that every single one of them including you is talking in your own language, using your own culture.. but translating it into English.

I don't say it's useless... but it's just not quite right.

basically if you want to "Speak" English with English speaking people and you want them to truly "understand" you.. you have to think in an English way

believe me brother it is a matter of logic for me its impossible to change my thoughts or my attitude according to each culture .. for instance if u want to speak about Islam in each culutre WILL u change ur thught about Islam according to each nation or culture???????

believe me dear sister, when i say what I'm saying.. i do it out of experience, for one.

second, i think that you misunderstood me here, what i'm saying is not that you have to change your thoughts about islam... or anything you believe in for that matter..

what i'm saying is that you have to "think" the same way they do, not have the same ideology... it's about regulating how you turn your thoughts into words..it is very simple, and you might consider it to be a normal part of speaking english , but it's not.

the way we arabic people think of things is different than theirs. for example, in english, "please", "thank you" and "I'm sorry" are normal parts of speach. but to us arabs, some of us can't really digest saying "sorry".

here i also made a mistake by thinking in arabic : i said " Digest", and of course you understood that i was saying : يهضم الفكره أو يتحملها ... but if I said that to ANY non-arab person, he will NEVER understand what i meant, although he might be able to guess it

each one of us misunderstood the other side...
i thought u mean by changing ur way of thinking is to chane ur thoghts and attitude compeletly .. but now i get what do u try to say ..
in this point i agree with the way of speech -not thinking-is changed according to each culture
but i believe sometimes ur own culture is forcing u to tell what is hidden

to be honest, yes.

sometimes words fly from your mouth... and you don't pay attention to them. but suddenly you notice that everyone is having this weired look on their faces. as if they were thinking " what the hell is he saying". but you realize it and fix your mistake.
