Here goes my lame ass prediction: I believe that kakashi will pull out his new found jutsu after he is getting his ass handed to him by itachi, while this is happening naruto will bust out all he has and unleash some kyuubi chakra and kakashi and naruto do a double attack on itachi towards the end of the chapter. When this happens itachi will be hit through a tree somehow and kakashi and naruto will be left standing there smiling while itachi is lying on the ground with blood around his face and body.
Next page heads back to gai and kisame, the long awaited conclusion of what gai saw, goes accordingly to this: Gai and his team are all smiling and gai says "This guy...he was...he was that man who came with itachi 2 and a half years ago...he was very strong as well..." Then rock lee says "Gai sensei, you have showed us all why you are konoha's master taijutsu specialist, i will be just like you someday gai sensei!!!" and this seems all dandy and good, until the following occurs. Neji is smiling and says "This man's chakra has completely left him...he is dead gai sensei" Gai looks sternly at him and he soon realizes he actually killed him, then it heads back to itachi and naruto's fight and they are talking as well and look as if everything is fine...but on the last page of chapter 260 it shows an exclamation mark over kakashi and naruto's team, and then the other half of the page is divided into gai and his team who are very shocked, and im talking extremely shocked. Nobody will know what this means until 261...but i will already say that chapter 261 in my opinion, will begin with kisame standing up and smiling, and then says "So...konoha's furious beast has recognized me finally...then it seems i can finally stop toying with you eh?" and gai is shocked as hell, and his whole team is like, oh my god...we are screwed. Kisame wasnt even scratched by that attack, especially if gai only opened the 6th gate and not the first 5 as well, cuz that shouldnt be enough to defeat kisame.
Meanwhile, it cuts back to naruto and kakashi who look as pale as ghosts. Kakashi says "Itachi...you...you are?" Then itachi flashes behind them in a quick burst and puts a kunai to naruto's throat and says "You underestimated me...kakashi san." Naruto is scared as hell and sakura and chiyo dont know what the hell to do. Luckily kakashi has one trick left up his sleeve and uses an earth jutsu to hit itachi or at least get him away from naruto. Then kakashi sighs and itachi says "This is only beginning kakashi san." Then it goes back to the last few pages of chapter 261 and kisame just totally owns gai and hits all of the former genins' chakra away with samehada and throws them all through a cliff. He smiles on the last page and says "This is where you witness the true power of samehada, the weapon that only responds to...ME!!!" then he charges at all of them and the last picture on the page in the corner shows zetsu observing the battle and says "Both of these rescue teams from konoha...are finished..."
End of that chapter as well, anyways, i think the akatsuki will get pwned to start out with and then just preceed to beat the hell out of both teams before jiraiya shows up with some friends, dont ask me who, but i think that is what is gonna happen...or err...something like that. At the end of chapter 261, kisame will unvail samehada by unwrapping it and showing the inside of it, this is where he gets started for sure. At least from what i gather.
