ADRIANO WINS REUTERS GOAL OF THE SEASON
According to leading news agency Reuters, the finest goal in the 2004/05 Serie A campaign was Adriano's breathtaking individual effort for Inter in the 3-1 win over Udinese in October. The Brazilian had already blasted home a 30-metre free-kick before he picked the ball up deep in his own half, weaved past three defenders before finding the space to unleash a fierce drive past Udinese keeper Morgan De Sanctis.
Adriano's solo goal beat off competition from other splendid strikes by Gilardino (overhead kick for Parma against Lecce), Fabio Simplicio (long-range effort for Parma against Cagliari) and Zampagna (lob for Messina against Roma).
