First of all, sorry for typing in English but I live in the US and don’t own an Arabic keyboard.
I am very glad you guys are discussing the errors of SpaceToon. I am not ashamed to say that I am 23 years old, a master’s student and will be going for my PhD next year and that I enjoy and watch Anime. I have a Lebanese friend who is 26, married, a PhD student and owns the biggest Anime DVD collection I have ever seen. I still think that adults who enjoy anime are looked down upon in Arab countries, but that will change when all of you become adults. It’s just a matter of time.
I was in Syria last year and saw the first episode of Dragon Ball Z and I was so enraged that I turned off the TV. Space Toon changed the story so much that it was sad. What is wrong with saying that Gohan has a real tail and they are from a different planet? We all know that Duke Flied (sorry of the spelling) from Grandizer was from a different planet!
Anyway, about the violence and nudity, they cut nudity here in the US too so that isn’t a problem. About the violence, well it depends on the show. DBZ has some violence but not a lot, and I think you can still have a good story while not cutting out every blood scene. I mean all the kids nowadays see violence on TV and films and the video games they play.
But some Anime shows are not suitable for young kids and I agree to that. For example, here in the US from 11PM till 2AM, Cartoon Network becomes “Adult Swim” and in it they show anime like Cowboy Bepop, Inuyasha, Detective Conan, and Trigun. Space Toon should do the same and enough with story changing. Also, I think Trigun has very little real violence and no nudity and has a very good story about love and peace. Maybe they can show it on Space Toon.
Anyway, I am glad someone else noticed the imperfections of Space Toon and I hope it all gets fixed because Anime is great and we want to watch great anime. Thank you and sorry for the long post.
