Question: How is development progressing on Biohazard 0? for GameCube
Mikami-san: Well, I can tell you the game begins on a train. There will be plenty of interaction with the background including objects on tables such as wine bottles and breakable windows, thanks in part to the capabilities of the GameCube. The themes of the game are very similar to previous installments in the game.
Question: You worked on the original Biohazard, and several other directors participated in the development of other installments in the series. Will they also participate in the GameCube remakes?
Mikami-san: I'm not sure, however, all the previous installments in the series will be re-released on the GameCube. First, the original Biohazard ill be released next March. Then Biohazard 2, 3, Code-Veronica and so on.
Question: Biohazard 4 was originally announced for the PlayStation 2, what's happening about that version?
Mikami-san: It was completely scrapped and development was moved to the GameCube. I've been in continued contact with the division working on Biohazard 4, and all I can say is, it will be quite good.
Question: When can players in America expect the GameCube remakes of the Biohazard series?
Mikami-san: Nothing has been decided yet. There has been some discussion about unifying the series in terms of the name. As you know, it's called Resident Evil overseas, but I doubt it will be changed.
Question: What are your thoughts on the GameCube hardware?
Mikami-san: It's very powerful and easy in terms of software development. The one thing I want people to know is, we haven't necessarily received money from Nintendo for deciding to make the Biohazard series exclusive to GameCube. More importantly, we believe the GameCube is a machine which will definitely have a five-year life cycle, if not longer. So it will provide the stability needed for the future of the Biohazard series.
