good ideas, but personally i found games to be the best way in learning any other way

after playing for a while you will reach a point where you will begin to think using the new words that you learned ... from there it should be waaay easier to pick up the language

Fox news would be the best, since
1 - they're the incarnation of US-Bias which may give a motive to know what is being lied about you somewhere else :S
2 - since its audience is mostly pea-brained rednecks they try to use the most simple of words to get the point through

after a little while you should move to other networks that aim for a more educated audience

i learned my language (and accent too :P) from final fantasy and other RPGs, then started playing this online game called Tribal Wars which used to have a .net server only, now there is an .ae one :S, the people there helped me on my writing a lot (they may not be too friendly but they get the point across)

arab news editors use some seriously good words, definitely a pro to it

i learned english through playing video games, watching movies and japanese animation that are dubbed in english, reading novels , books

I also listen to the bbc news when im driving sometimes and they do some interesting radio talk shows.

I am back ,this is my first post since 2001 or 02 maybe.
Man your topic is really helpful. I believe the best way to learn a new language, any language, is to listen to its rhythm. Don’t pay that much to grammars, rules blah blah. The rhythm is the only thing that makes sense, at least to me, LOL.
