Rambus Providing Memory for PS3
With information on the PS3 slowly rising, now comes information about the PS3s memory capabilities. The president of Rambus, Mr. Avo Kanadjian recently stated that his company is the only provider able to meet the memory demands of Sony's next console. After boasting about his companies strength he then went on to explain that Sony are looking at RDRAM chips which are capable of transferring 10 GB/sec for the PS3. According to Xengamers Sony plan to incorporate two RDRAM chips based on Rambus' Yellowstone architecture, capable of 12 GB/sec performance, in the PlayStation 3.
Something this monstrous will leave the PS2 for dead, well performance wise anyways. If Sony follow down this path Microsoft and Nintendo will not be far behind.
