IGN: How involved with the game is 50 Cent?
Andre Emerson: 50 is fully engaged and excited about the game. From photo sessions, voice over, content creation, game mechanics and storyline, he is heavily involved in the project.
IGN: Did he come up with the story and the characters?
Andre: While 50 was very involved with the story; it was actually inked by Executive Producer and Writer of the Sopranos, Emmy Award Winner, Terry Winter. Terry spent months with 50 on the road in preparation to write the screenplay for 50's forthcoming film, Hustler's Ambition. This inherent knowledge of 50's life allowed Terry to craft an incredible story for our game.
IGN: Will 50 come in to be motion-captured?
Andre: We're not sure if we're going to use mocap on this game, but he has offered to do it if we choose to.
IGN: What exactly is the role of 50 Cent "the character" in this game? Is he a hero, an anti-hero, a rapper with a heart of gold?
Andre: 50 doesn't play a rapper in the game. He's a hustler who ends up neck deep in serious s---.
IGN: Tell us a little bit about the story.
Andre: Terry's crafted a modern-classic crime story. Think of the story as a 're-imagining' of what 50's life as a hustler may have turned out to be had he not become a rap phenomenon.
IGN: Since you worked on the Dead to Rights series, is it safe to assume that 50 Cent's game will have a DTR/Max Payne feel to it?
Andre: Some of my old DTR comrades are actually developing the game, but it has a very unique look and feel. It's a third person POV, but we have FPS-style controls. There are some extremely cool (and violent) features that we'll be sharing in the coming weeks. Regarding the type of game, in our early collaboration with 50, we decided to create a game that was very tightly focused and story-driven, rather than open-ended. This decision is allowing us to bring Terry Winter's script to life and keep it very close to 50.
IGN: 50 says he's "pulling no punches with his game." What exactly does that mean? Are we talking excessive violence, blood, and profanity? Or are we also talking gameplay innovation? And if so, what is that innovation?
Andre: All of the above. The dialog, violence, game mechanics, his personal involvement, etc. Like all of his other ventures (G-Unit Records, G-Unit Clothing Company, G-Unit Reeboks, Formula 50 Vitamin Water, Motion Picture, etc.) he works endlessly on this stuff and it's all monumentally successful.
IGN: Let's say I'm a kid who has only enough money to buy one rapper's game. What makes 50's game worth my money over Snoop's game from Midway?
Andre: Other than a couple of interviews, we have no idea what Midway's game has to offer. But I can say that given the volume of diverse gameplay mechanics, intense story telling, incredible music -- both current and exclusive as well as videos that we'll feature, no gamer or fan of 50 will be disappointed.
