Ryoga buys a fishing pole of love in hopes of making Akane fall for him. The pole has a tiny suction cup on the end, and when it hits someone on the chest it leaves a small, red mark. The mark grows into a little fish and the person falls more and more in love with the owner of the rod. Ryoga tries to use it on Akane, but accidentally hits Ranma instead. Everyone starts to wonder why Ryoga and Ranma seem to be "more than friends" so suddenly, and Ranma becomes jealous of Ryoga's love for Akane
