A question about the time in C++

I am a student in the US and I should finish my project which is a puzzle game this week. I still have one problem which is the time. I need to put a timer and make the user choose the time and the display it on the screen. The user should finish the game before the time finishes. I really would apperciate if any one help me on the issue. Thanks in advance.
