Girl with a pearl earring is the name of one of the most beautiful painting I've ever seen. It is by a painter called Vermeer, who lived in the 17th century. He always painted things that are not important, and maybe that is why I love him. For example one of his great paintings called "Milkmaid" and it is simply a maid pouring milk..!!
A book was released on this name "Girl with a pearl earring" and yeah it is about the painting, the book is by Tracy Chevalier. It tells the story of the painting, of course the story is not true but I loved it. In order to enjoy it you have to read it in English. It is one of my favorite books.
The main character is Griet the sixteen years old girl who became a maid after an unfortunate accident that happened to her father. She goes to work with the Vermeer's where her whole life change forever, she was to stay as long as she can clean the painter's studio without moving a thing. The clever girl did her job right and he was pleased. So she stayed and the story goes on. I like the way Tracy treat her characters bringing them to life and giving them real personalities.
Tracy wrote other books but I loved this one the most because I loved the painting.
