How could I translate the aphorisms to Arabic?

Hi ppl,
and peace be upon you.

during the last two months I tried to increase my knowledge about translating, I bought many books about translating but never read a thing about translating the aphorisms.

Does anyone here have any idea about how to done that?

For example, take this aphorism:
الوقت كالسيف إن لم تقطعه قطعك

I heard that aphorisms can't be translated, is that true? If so, please wrote down the common aphorisms in English..

I don't think so.
Take this as an example:
الصديق وقت الضيق

I read in a book the translation of this one, and it was the next:

Friend in need, friend indeed.

So I don't think it's a literal translation, if so. We should say:
The Friend comes in a hard time.

in fact i think these aphorisms came from the foriegn communities

and it been translated into arabic and it's been transformed into different accents popular

انا عارف وش تقصد ، لكن اذا ماكنت تعرف اصل المثل هو عربي ولا اجنبي وتبي تترجمه بشكل قريب من المعنى.. ترجمته انا لهذا السبب

ماكتبت "cut with it" على سبيل المثال الا لأني احاول اوصل معنى المثل..

ومعناه اذا ما ستغليت الوقت بشكل ايجابي راح تندم في نهاية الطريق.. وااذا حسيت مثلا انك ما استغليت الوقت مثلك مثل ناس في عمرك تحس فعلا مرور الوقت غير اشياء بشكل ايجابي وغيرك بشكل سلبي مثال "الاهمال في الدراسة" وهكذا.

فالوقت هنا شبه بالسيف لأنه مهم بنفس اهمية السيف واذا ما استخدمته صح.. يجي يوم ويتم قطعك بهالسيف اللي هو الوقت.

وانا اعرف ان الترجمة ليست حرفية ولا بنصير مثل Google tools ، ومتأكد ان المثل ترجمته بالانجليزي لازم يكون فيها eloquence.

Like Idioms or any specific cultural terms for that matter, as a translator you don't usually translate these kind of things...what you do is, you look for something which have similar meaning or more often close to it..
the reason is, usually these aphorisms are cultural-specific..


some close-enough sayings concerning the time matter

translated Religion related texts, usually contain a ridiculous amount of transliterated words..

when translating a religious text, you've to use "Transliteration" more often than you'd like to..which is pretty much meaningless if the person reading had no clue about the specifications...and the whole point of translating something is to make it easier for foreigner to understand
