as far as i know, AION is a pvp oriented game... so its really wrong to compare it to wow on the pve side
wow itself doesnt have a good story, the story started long time ago with the prequel games, thats why its unfair to compare wow's lore with any other mmorpg, like some ppl did with wow vs ff11. they are destroying warcraft lore in wow anyway -_-
wow is no longer a "hardcore" game, so need to figure out if a game is hardcore or not for comparison, again, like wow vs ff11, ff11 is way more hardcore than wow, thats why its easier for more ppl to play wow than ff11 as it is made to be easy and accessible to casual too
the game only had 1 year life...that is barely enough time to do adjustments, comparing +5years game to 1year game is not fair imo
maybe if they had more time and more feedback from players they could fix it and made it the ultimate pvp mmorpg, but guess they couldnt manage that well
in wow, they finally are going back to its "origin" stats wise and the way the game is supposed to be played, no more dumb mass AOE with 0 CC and multi tanks without thinking
yet, mostly i wont go back to cata and will wait for ff14, that game is pve oriented which is what i want and its trying to combine ff11 with wow and other game, so it has hardcore and casual side
before someone start flaming claiming that wow has "hardcore" side.... comparing ff11 to wow is enough to show you how lame the "hardcore" part of wow is, i had at least 1 event in ff11 per day and i couldnt cover most of them, while in wow (after vanilla wow), we mostly had 1-2 raids to do per week, as no one cared about lower lvl raids as their gear lvl is lower while in ff11 you could keep using lower gear lvl for lvl cap events.
